I just think everything on it will be proprietary and you won't be able to do any repairs aside from getting lucky at a junkyard. Aftermarket will probably be pretty limited too.
I won't buy into the EV market for an offroader until they make the EV equivalent of a spare gas can. Last thing I want to do is be up in the mountains and oops dead battery.

I don't disagree. Though I think the mechanical bits will be field repairable (well, as well as any other truck anyways).

It'll be fine as a town truck and/or day-tripper though. And out in the boonies, that's why we have toys like inreaches and PLBs. Otherwise, a trailer with a diesel genset would be a great pairing (along with as much solar on the roof as you can fit, etc)

The way Tesla's car batteries degrade is actually pretty impressive for lithium ion as said above, but that's def a big concern for the truck.

*all outdoorsy pictures of the truck camping and shit*

meanwhile Tesla's shtick is making you come to a dealership for literally everything. A little questionable lol

The Rivian R1T looks a million times better. And the specs aren't much different.

Honestly going to wait until the Extreme E race series comes out before getting an offroad EV.

And if it turns out well.... I'll just motor swap my Tacoma ;)

first off, Tesla doesn’t have dealerships. Second, they actually come to your house literally for free to fix stuff. I had an issue with my door handle on my model s, I booked an appointment through their app and one of their workers came to my house later that week and fixed it in under 30 minutes free of charge.

I put 100k in my model s I bought in 2013 and had minimal issues. Actually, the only maintenance I did to it that cost me money was new tires. Only lost a few miles of range on the battery too.

There is supposed to be a solar power add on for the rear cover that can add up to 15 miles of range per day. Also, don't forget that going downhill will regen power and add to your range.

I think the Rivian pickup is ugly AND boring looking. I find the new Cybertruck attractive in a futuristic way. Call me crazy...

Part of the story they gave for the angular lines is that 30X steel panels are strong that they can only be bent - they cannot be stamped. This tank would obliterate any other vehicle it collides with.

    So I want one now.

Being aligned with Tesla priorities, the Cybertruck will be the safest pickup for sale in the US.
