29er doesn't fit in DCSB

I wonder if you could come up with a rig that lifts the attachment point for the fork higher thus bringing the rear end in? ‍

 

I have the same issue with my Fatboy. I put the fork mount on a board and put the bike in backwards.

 

Along this same line of thought - how about lifting the rear tire up and set it on something like a cooler?

I have the same issue with mine. I have a Thule T2 also, which I’ll use if I need the bed space or if I’m riding with someone who I don’t have a thru-axle adapter for. The T2 Pro will not allow you to drop the tailgate without making contact with the rack, but the T2 classic clears by 1/8 to 1/4”

Ran into the same issue with my 27.5 so had to go the tailgate pad route.

 

Does anyone make an L bracket that puts the mounting point on top of the bed by the cab? That would give you an inch or two, not sure if that's enough but just a thought...

 

But every time without the bike you look goofy.

 

I thought about it with mine, but decided it was a terrible idea for one reason. I have QR fork mounts and need to run a thru-axle adapter for my 15mm T/A on my Habit, and a lefty adapter for my gravel slayer. The adapters have some free movement until the fork is tightened down, and even then, they can be forced to pivot. Closing the tailgate against the rear tire of my habit, so that it fits tight, will pivot my T/A adapter forward until it hits the bed rail. If it were mounted on the top of the bed rail, I’d worry about sending it right through the back window.

If you run a T/A compatible fork mount like the one from RockyMounts, it shouldn’t be an issue.

 

I have been looking for something like that. A rack that you could use the roof rails.

This would free up a ton of bed space.

 

I also have a nifty rear tire tie-down set up in mine, for bikes that fit a little better. Same would work for my Habit if the strap were a touch longer.

 

This is why I want to get a TRD OR ACLB

 

Take a 2x6 and cut to the bed width, treat it for the elements and place it in the notches towards the end of the bed and put the rear wheel on that. I did this on my 2013 DCSB and it worked out really well. I put a couple velcro straps on the board to keep the rear wheel from sliding around, never had issues with bouncing either. I'll dig up an old picture later to show you.

I took a piece of aluminum angle from HD and bolted it to between the bed and front channel/track, before mounting I bolted a couple fork mounts for my bikes. Not the best picture but you get the idea.

 

Lol. What did you expect? Not much fits in that tiny ass bed.
