    I was just about to post in your thread asking about what's good first welder would be. One of my boys wants to be a welder and go to welding school in a year or 2. I also want to learn as well. You think starting with a fluxcore welder is enough? Or should we go ahead and get one that can also use Argon gas mix to mig weld?

    What is your budget?
    There is a lot of good multi process machines on the market now. You will want gas, fluxcore has its place but gassed wire is so much better.

    The budget, great question. Thats my issue, Im not really sure. Harbor Freights multiprocess is around 700. Is there any decent ones for around 400?

    Edit: for 400 that would be worth buying, reviews are all over the place on some models

    The HF Vulcan welders are very good machines. I just got the Ominpro 220 a couple weeks back with aluminum spool gun. So far it has been great. But it’s gonna cost around a grand depending on what coupon you use.
    Another thing to think about is your electrical requirements. What do you have available.
    Not familiar with any multi p welders that cheap that I would buy

    That last line helps me not make a poor choice :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Ive got a 240v, 30Amp plug available in the garage that I use to charge my daily driver. I saw that HF vulcan and it does look serious! You think that HF Titanium MP for 699 is a good enough one? I still have to get gloves, mask, welding table, other things. So keeping it all under 1k is probably my real budget. Thankfully I am my own CFO and the future Mrs supports all stuffs like this :)

    Yes it’s a very good machine. We have talked about it quite extensively in a welding forum I am in. Will work well for y’all. Gonna need a bottle also and a extension cord plus consumables.

    One other note is to check your insurance policy regarding hot work in your garage. Lot of policies have in fine print if fire owner caused company not responsible for damages.
