Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Hoping someone can help. I’ve downloaded all the software and updated. got the registry key loaded. i hook up to the truck click identify and it reads i’m on 04B04. I downloaded the tune i want to try. 1.05 base. click Flash IT select the tune. a window pops up stating my trucks voltage and to turn off all electrical components. i click ok and it begins the flash. gets to “Sceurity Checks” then fails. i’ve tried different tunes and tried multiple times. here is a pic of the screen

Any word on 2020 tunes? My kit gets here tomorrow and I received the license reg today. I'm ready to rock as long there's a tune to run with! Thanks!

 

Not yet, I’ve been checking TW and OVTunes’ websites multiple times for the past few days. Should be any day now.

 

Any updated info on 2018 Handhelds?

 

Also try clear DTC and then turn your truck off and then back on if turning all the antivirus software off doesn't work and make sure you've put all tuning software and tune files in folders that you've made an exception for in your anti virus software as it'll save you a lot of head ache in the future.

I got with Anthony at Open Flash Friday of last week. He is still working on it.

 

i have windows 10 and have the antivirus scan turned off before installed. where would i turn off “real time protection” not sure where can’t find it when i search windows

 

Start/settings/update&security/windows security/virus&threat protection>manage settings: turn real time protection off

 

Google how to add exceptions for windows defender win 10 and add OV folder

 

Just did my reflash on a 2019 TRD PRO and drove for about 30 mins doing a few WOT runs, Stop and go traffic, Highway cruising and and Uphill driving.

First Impressions - Drivability is a HUGE improvement. Tip in and throttle response almost feels close to having a throttle cable. Shifting is way better and is predictable and doesn't search for gears like before. Have yet to mess with the gearlock setting.

Crazy how this is just the BETA file. It should of came like this from factory. Looking forward to the 2.0 Final

Figured out my problem. If anyone has an aftermarket stereo head-unit that has OBD2 communications (digital gauges) you have to disable OBD2 communications on your headunit. I have the Pioneer AVIC 8400 NEX to disable OBD communications it’s in the setting tab when the gauges are displayed on the screen. Thanks for the help with the antivirus crap on windows i’m sure that was another issue i had. Flashed 1.05 base and WOW what a difference and it hasn’t even settled yet.

 

So, here are my thoughts after the install and a drive from and to work to home.
Throttle is super responsive, which is great when trying to make minor adjustments in speed.
Pick-up is really good for the times when needing to merge into traffic really fast. It no longer lags, shifts down a few gears, then jerks forward, which is amazing.
If I really throw down the pedal, it gets going really fast and really well.
Only downside is that I'm supposed to get more MPG, but I'm getting about the same, if not less. This is probably due to my heavy foot driving style.

 

Wait a few tanks of gas and it should settle to where your mpgs will come back

 

I noticed that initial mpg on 2.0 was really bad. Around 15-16 mpg. After 100 miles or so it started to go up. Back up to 18 19
Now. Which is typical for winter gas.
