So I have purchased a grille from SRQ Fabrication about a little less then a year ago. So the grille glue all fell apart and I was told just to go buy some glue and glue it back together. The price tag does not meet the meet the quality.Screenshot_20191125-222057_Instagram.jpg

Yeah, gonna be honest about SRQ as well. It took months to get a grille order completed, and it came with bubbled paint because he was having issues with the weather/his shop/idk. After a drawn out back and forth, I had him ship me the grille as-is so I could have my friend's shop properly repaint it and install the mesh.

In the end he was very apologetic, and refunded the majority of the cost with a promise to give me a good deal on the next order I placed with them. I also believe they've merged/been bought out by True North Fab who I'm not really familiar with, so I can't really say what's going on down there right now. I think I probably should've stuck with resident TW'er HomerTaco's Satoshi grilles instead, but I'll give that SRQ at least did a decent job of rectifying the problem.

In this case if you ship your grille back to the vendor I bet they would Glue it back together .

I get things like this often trying to find parts for equipment the manufacture went out of business or was bought out by a Mega Company for one process .

Some companies are great at the fabrication but are quite bad about the business end.

Just didnt think that when I ordered a 475 dollar grille I would have problems with the quality.

Yea maybe a least that and not just telling me for instance just to go buy some glue and glue it together

So you're saying we shouldn't buy from a company because they won't fix a year old part that they didn't make?

"SRQ Fabrications hopes to create a marketplace where part time designers and fabricators can list innovative designs and products up for sale."

In other words, they are the Amazon/Ebay of small off-road fabricators.

You could spend 2x that amount and still end up a year later with the fabricator who built it being out of business.

I agree. I dont see how this is SRQ's fault.

Even if it was an SRQ grille its a year old..

The grille was purchased through SRQ. It is not SRQ's grille, SRQ was simply distributing another vendors product. If you bought King coilovers from SRQ and a year later you had one leak it isn't SRQ's fault, it's Kings fault.

Regardless, SRQ told you exactly how to fix it, even though it wasn't his product that failed. He even offered to fix it for you if you paid shipping.

    Chill.

I see this type of stuff a lot. You buy from a small time fabricator. Good old Steve in his 1 car garage isn't likely to have an extensive warranty policy.

SRQ clearly doesn't have any sort of blanket warranty policy on the parts they sell (not even a 30 day), likely because it's between you and the fabricator who built it.

$475 for a custom grill is the name of the game. Overpriced DIY projects that really only a couple vendors with good quality items can actually justify the price for, and apparently whoever made yours isn’t one of them.

I’d just get yourself a good quality epoxy that adheres well to plastic and metal and call it a day.

Another SRQ customer underwhelmed by their delivery time and the quality of their product. Ordered a pretty standard grille for my 03 DC (standard mesh, black surround and white Toyota emblem). Grille was quoted at 4 week lead time (I was ok with that). Took 8 weeks... Arrived wrapped in bubble wrap, which is fine right, EXCEPT the grille wasn't given proper cure time on the black paint and the bubble wrap left a texture in the paint. Ended up having to lightly sand and repaint. Fast forward 6 months and the mesh on the large center panel with the Toyota letting has come loose on one side. I'll just end up gluing it back with some blear gorilla glue, definitely not worth sending it back to SRQ. Long story short, for $400 I expect better quality and probably won't be a return customer.

Just providing my experience for what it's worth.

Your order definitely had its issues and we really do apologize for those. Since then we have invested a lot of money into our paint booth and have been able to dial in our painting process (everything is a learning process, especially in South Florida). In the case of the OP, his grille wasn't even built by us and is expecting us to cover the cost of repair for something a year old. We tried to talk with him on Instagram and he wouldn't even respond, yet cut out those messages for his TW post.

Did you reach out to us when the grille arrived with issues upon delivery? Did you send us an email when it started failing? If it was a grille built by us we would have covered any shipping costs and made the situation right. It's impossible to fix issues if the end customer doesn't reach out to us.

They said go buy some glue and glue it. Not to ship it back and have them fix it.

Don't get me wrong I love the grill, but I have 3 kids, a full time job, a needy wife... I could go on and on. I'm not going to waste my time calling, complaining, removing a grille, packaging a grille, shipping a grille, waiting (with no grille), unpacking a grille, re-installing a grille, etc. when I can just drink a beer and throw on a quick coat of paint. Over the holiday weekend I'll probably drink another beer and re-glue the mesh... Like I said originally, I just expected a little better quality for something I paid $400 for.
