OP's friend is going to be pissed when he misses out on a M3 because TW is arguing about towing again..

Somewhere, the person who wrote the section on towing in the manual is sobbing into a glass of red wine, muttering something about what's the point.

Let your friend have it shipped,or he can rent a 3/4 truck and trailer and tow it himself. Its not YOUR problem.

You don’t need a 3/4 ton truck to tow a car. A tacoma will do it just fine.

It's a flood of unsubstantiated opinions with a sprinkling of facts. Otherwise known as a normal Monday.

You started nothing. You just tapped into an ongoing debate about the true towing ability of any truck ever built. This just happens to be the Tacoma branch of that debate.

Might I be so bold to add my 0.02 cents, ($75.38 CAN) look at the numbers and be comfortable with what you are towing. If it feels wrong, trust your instincts. And while towing, don't make it a race. Slow and stead gets you and everyone else home safe. Good luck with your decision.

Oh. In that case, I'm going to double down on your being wrong despite conclusive evidence to the contrary, as is tradition here, and rationalize it with a flood of emotions.

So you're wrong, it's totally Monday because I feel like it's Monday. No matter what my watch, phone or any of those stupid Toyota engineers say.

I didn't read the responses here, buuuuttt
I view this as robbing from Peter, to pay Paul.
2,000 miles at about 10 mpg (that's probably overly optimistic) = 200 gallons of gas consumed, at $2.50 per gallon= $500 spent alone in gas. Your friend can probably get the car shipped by a bonded and insured carrier for about $600. This is 2k miles added to your truck, hard miles at that.
    I don't see the point.
