Pretty much just as helpful as him claiming that anyone having issues with their camper and speaking about how their camper doors are flying off the plastic hinges(that are rated for “like a million cycles”) and leaking water into their camper and so on and so on.....are just people trolling a thread

It's interesting that, despite all this negative publicity, GFC is still leaving its competitors in the dust when it comes to number of orders.

I believe I was just trying to do that TacoMcGee guy a favor by helping him understand why everyone on here had a problem with his posts. He didn't quite seem to understand it. As for being beneficial, you're right, it wasn't. I feel like you need to make yourself a cape and trophy or something for all of this hard work you're putting in to safe everyone who has ever had interest in a GFC.

They are literally blowing the doors off the competition.:)

Whether people think it’s good, bad, famous, infamous, or instafamous. Whether you’re an owner, non-owner, lover, hater, troll, kool-aid drinker, or have a personal crusade to save a fellow Tacoma owner from the troubles and woes that is the GFC business or brand. You have to admit they’ve marketed the product so well that it has warranted an opinion, a breath, a keystroke, a smile or cringe from one of the above.

All I can say is for $5k I have never camped more than ever before with any other setup. One year with a camper shell, one with an RTT and this past with the GFC. Sure my doors might fall off. Then I guess I’ll just camp without doors. Just the simple fact that I could get in my tent from inside the bed was a game changer.

That is all. Please continue giving GFC its deserved or undeserved attention.

I’m loving it here! Alaska is wonderful and SE Alaska is so cool, especially living in a tiny town. You feel like you’re on an island in Haines. One barge a week, sometimes the tiny planes can’t fly in or out, mail gets here 2 weeks late sometimes, and the ferry schedule getting slashed.... it’s just interesting how you make do with what you have available to you. Oh, and it’s so damn pretty!

    Different tubes.

Some are complaining of water and drips in the space frame exiting through the bolts that attach the upper. I don’t have this problem with mine.

The aluminum tube is for the front hinge. It can also fill with water and leak rusty water on the cab. I do have this problem with mine. I am worried the rusty water is damaging the truck paint.

Radio silence from gfc on warning and getting a fix out to the ~100 campers with potential hinge issues.

    They are working on it.

    People needed fixes months ago.

O I see I thought they were talking about addressing the issue with the bolts rust n frame. Have you taken one off yours out to see if they are rusted?reading those comments it sounded like ppl were experiencing the problem even though it wasn't dripping from the bolts. My main concern is with the structural integrity and having the tent come flying off since that's were its attached to.

If you want a response from GFC, go to their forum...that's what it's there for. If you just post it here there will be a food fight not the exchange of useful information.

On mine, one side had some corrosion, not bad. One side had zero corrosion. I had to take mine out to replace broken hinges.

They put up an update on their board for repair work.

Troll here serving up unhelpful info....

someone had reached out to me several weeks ago asking about fan installation and mentioned they will have GFC install it for them. I looked on the website and I don't see this yet as an option, but maybe it is once you get into the "in production" phase or something and that's why he made mention of it, I don't know.

If they are in fact offering the install (and I am stating again that I do not know if they are or are not), I would recommend confirming how they are installing it. One was installed for me and it was GLUED on. I mentioned my concerns about it being glued and was told not to worry. They also SCREWED into the honey comb which i was initially told by them the same day that screwing into it was not a good idea. Of course there is nothing for the screw to grab to, so they started coming coming out. Well, the fan started separating from the camper of course because it was glued, and it rained on me while in the middle of nowhere on the Dempster and I would have to wait for dry weather to cake on caulk, and constantly reapply until I was in a big town. A friend helped me properly install it with bolts once near a Home Depot, and we resealed the thing. No issues since.

This is actual helpful info from someone who owns a GFC. Sounds like we should be installing fans ourselves. Is there a particular fan that everyone is using? I live in WA where it doesn't get too hot so I'm not sure if it's worth it or not.
