    Agree with @Bagman.
Never heard of Ares but ~$700 for a quartz watch seems excessive. I do like the design but for that money why not wait a little and snatch a used ORIS pro diver for about $1K? It holds its value and you'll get the proven and handsome toughness instead of taking Ares' words for it.

Yeah, you’re right. I threw on an extra “1” on the model number. It is a seiko spb039j1. Also sometimes referenced as a sarx0491 I believe.

GShock RiseMan. Another ABC type watch. This was the first G Shock I bought myself after college graduation. It has the altimeter and barometer but no compass so actually an AB no C watch. The benefit of this model is the solar and temp for me. It is a cool to see the temp change when the sun goes down. I sometimes wish I had one of those led chargers but a day in the front window brings the meter back to “H”. You can also monitor pressure change via the barometer feature. And the trend is displayed in the top left circle. I think that a solid sports watch is a need for everyone. This tough solar fits my need very well as it allows me to rotate without having a half dozen dead batteries.

A follow up to my questions is I picked up an ares with 25% off. I figured if no one ever bought it and tried it no one else would know if they’re good watches or if ares will stand behind their “lifetime ownership” claim. So I will post updates on it from time to time. Sorry for not taking y’alls advice but wanted to at least try them out. So far so good it’s been scraped against metal and not a scratch yet so it’s a durable top coat7AE732EF-A6AB-4758-8660-E4D01E20678F.jpg

Thanks I really appreciate it. I’ve never had a watch that I’ve looked at my wrist and really thought that it was a great looking piece. I’m thinking she’s gonna be a keeper

Yeah. Usually that’s what it’s all about. You fall in love with it and nothing else matters. I’m a Bremont fan because beside a masculine good look it’s a 2000 Vickers hardness with both the crystals and steel body. You can wear them for years and they still look brand new. I love those MBII but darn they are $6k.

Yeah I’ll be honest I couldn’t stomach that. It was hard for me to swallow 520 for my ares. It also took me forever to buy my NFW autopilot moving from a timex but I’ve had the nfw for years and wanted to try something else and when I saw the ares I just fell in love.49BBF8E9-F0F8-493A-B0DE-F9B563B157C8.jpg

Worn this just a few times, my wedding for one. Got it from my dad, I’ve had it for over 40 yrs. 20yrs ago, a guy once offered me a 1976 Nova for this watch! Now that we are both retired theres no need for a watch.
