I’m messing around in this commercial restaurant. We are converting an existing patio with a roof to a 3 season room. We are slow so I’m busy working. I cut some stone vaneer and scribed some cedar in to accept some windows.


This was a test cut I did to see how bad it would suck.




And I turned it into this-

 

Just wrapped a basement finish.

Question for you- were the basement walls insulated with blanket insulation before you started?

No they were not, had to insulate them after my rough inspections with Pink

 

I did a basement last winter with the blanket insulation.

The home owner just took it down and threw it away. I thought that was wierd not to frame and fill, but it was his house and money!

 

This particular home never had insulation installed when built. But it's a code requirement to be insulated, would have saved me a step if it was to begin with lol.

 

I was just curious as new construction unfinished basements in Greality are wrapped with blanket insulation.



However, when a basement is finished here; the vapor barrier/ plastic must be removed. Yet, I finished a basement in Erie and we were allowed to leave the barrier. Different jurisdictions different set of rules.

 

Previous basement I did was wrapped because it was brand new, this home was almost 20 years old though which I think is why it didn’t have any insulation

 

If I remember correctly, (20 years ago) it was hit or miss with new construction and basements. Some builders were wrapping basements and some were not. I finished a basement, from that era and at the time we were allowed to leave the vapor barrier on the blanket insulation. Now a days, we can't leave the vapor barrier.

 

Some guy in some office in some building thinks he knows something about building and that’s how we get new codes

 

Yeah....floating walls, sprinkler systems in residential, etc.

Nice. I find the quickest way to load up tools, is to take the tool I'm most likely to need first on the next job, and put it at the VERY BOTTOM of the tote/jobbox whatever. It seems to balance out the job by finishing one quickly and packing up quickly and efficiently and starting the next one going "Son of a B*@CH!"
