I just made this choice: both were roughly the same price. After checking them both out at the dealer I went with the 19 Pro.

I decided on the 2020 OR while a Voodoo blue '19 Pro sat next to it on the lot. Price was within $1k between the 2, but I wanted the Android Auto and power seat and other tech features. After pasing on the '19, I was leaning toward a 2020 Pro, but I didn't want to wait for one to be built and shipped in. Projected build date for the Pro the local dealer has on order was this week.

Happy with my decision and look forward to building my OR the way I want it. Only regret is not getting the LED headlights. Local dealers are not ordering 2020's with the LED lights. Might have to do with heating and snow build up, which was a real concern when the LED craze started in the Wrangler community.

@ctimrun - I'm interest in getting a quote from the broker you worked with on 2020 TRD Pro. Please PM me with your broker information. It's difficult to get a decent deal on Tacomas here in SoCal. Stealerships don't even budget even on the 2020 OR fully loaded and the $5K off you got (assuming it's 2020), it's a great deal. Thanks.

I bought my ‘19 off road there a few months ago. They have a great inventory, and if you’re willing to walk away initially they will negotiate with you within reason.

Nothing to do with local dealers not wanting to order LEDs. Toyota wont let them order LEDs. My dealer and I have been trying to get LEDs for a few months and Toyota wont put out unless you get a loaded premium TRD OR. Toyota Reps are not much help they tell my dealer it's a special item in my region. Horse Crap games because I know they are available in the Pacific Northwest with minimal other options. They mostly come from Baja so why does it matter where they ship a build to? Sorry just tired of waiting. Started all this on 9-5-19 and still no joy in the midwest.

I guess that makes sense as to why they don't have them. My truck has the Premium Offroad package with options that includes the tonneau. The LEDs are available in the packages above and below what I have, so I figured it was a dealer decision. Not a huge issue for me. I did the H9 bulb swap and am very happy with that setup for now. I can always swap in some aftermarket LED housings in the future if I decide to.

Power seats, carplay, transmission fixed?? Please, my transmission works perfectly fine in my almost 4 yrs old ’16 never a stealer tsb visit and power seat is not a deal breaker according to millions of Tacoma owners.
And I can skip the additional carplay spyware.

The LED? Yeah, I like that, but it’s an easy conversion to my fully paid for ’16, so there’s that

    Cheers

Hey, millions of people also vote each year.. does not make them right ;)

In all seriousness though, yeah.. power seats and carplay are a very personal choice, and since I was making that choice I did not buy the Tacoma last 3 times I purchase a truck because of those missing features. If you, honestly, believe Toyota does not spy on you as much or more then Apple you are fooling no one but yourself. Toyota knows your vehicles exact GPS location, gas, tire pressure, mileage, any error codes, etc. Not sure what year this started for Tacoma but if you have or can get an app that displays that info then Toyota already has it.. apps are not magical ;)

I never said the transmission was broke... I have had no issue. One only needs to search "transmission" in this forum to come up with more threads then you can shake a stick at about how "poor" or "broken" it is, thus when I mentioned it I used quotation marks.

Well, I did say “additional spyware” fully knowing that all automakers do that now starting with GM’s on star satellite b/s, and that some (like TOYOTA) have been reluctant to pass you down to carplay.

But because of popular demand, they now have to share your a$$ with them

That said, I don’t have any TOYOTA apps on my phone, so there’s that.

    Cheers

I just went through this too and chose the 2019 Pro. I couldn’t be happier and love my truck. But you can’t go wrong with either.

Great choice on the ‘19 Pro. Just took mine on it’s first off-road Overlanding excursion and the truck was phenomenal. You can literally drive it off the showroom floor and go off-roading with zero modifications.
