I don't mean like he was rapping it out. I'm just saying some other ppl on twitter are saying he said it referencing the song having that word repeated and he basically was saying 'that's enough.' But if it was meant as generalizing rap as that word, then yes I would agree with you. I'm not siding 1 way or the other, just offering up both sides, based on reading around about it, last night. I feel like just because of how things are today, he will probably get fired regardless. I am all for getting the bad out of the sport (and in general), but at the same time, for some reason it feels like there is an exaggerated movement to paint hockey/hockey culture in a bad light with a mob mentality. I'm not on board with that.

An examples is some of the comments recently about the sport being only for 'rich, white guys who are bullies.' I think that is very unfair to say. I think in the past 10 years or so, I see more effort by hockey than any other sport, to grow the game for all people. That goes from different financial backgrounds, races, sexes etc. There are so many programs here in Pittsburgh to get anyone involved. And the NHL has put on a major push also. I don't know what more can realistically be done? And it isn't going to happen over night, but things are going in the right direction. So no it is not perfect (and may never be) but it's very easy to paint with a broad brush and put the culture in a bad light because it is majority white/male and obviously a few bad apples.

The rich white comment from that bitch were no better than what Cherry said. That being said she is some crazy extremely political woman who gets paid to make comments like that to house wives. It's her job to be an overbearing feminist and make those comments. Similar to how if Dave Chappel said what Peters said to a group, it would be accepted somewhat, I can see why she wasn't fired.

In any case what she said doesn't get Cherry or Peter's off the hook, and frankly those two have quite different situations. Cherry had a history and honestly his foul up could of been covered with an apology which he refused to do until after he was fired. Peters was confronted to apologize and didn't. Instead he doubled down. Fuck him.

Ya for sure. I just think the groundwork is laid down for things to be a total shitstorm. Even Carcillo stirs the pot with shit that actually pisses of his former teammates, because he does the same thing. Sure some of what he says is legit and shows the bad within the NHL culture. Other stuff said is nothing more than stirring the pot. He throws fuel to the fire by playing the victim over every little thing. As far as Peters, if he has history and if there was intent with what he said, then for sure he is wrong. It can be interpreted a few different ways, depending on the source. I just have a problem with fake outrage. If it is justified, then sure it needs handled. And to some extent Cherry also. As we talked about, Cherry's comments can be taken a couple different ways. I am not sure how that man actually feels. Maybe he has some racist thoughts or maybe he just has a harsh way of being a proud Canadian and wanting to respect the Vets.

Hopefully there is progress in the game and the legit offensive things are taken out of the game (as much as possible.) In doing so, the game/culture shouldn't be totally shit on, when there is a lot of good and effort being made to make it great for everyone.

I think a big part of doing this right is the way the Flames are handling it. They're collecting all the information they can from witnesses before making their decision. Honestly if Cherry had of told SN right away that he would apologize and reword his comment he might still have a job. I get why he didn't do that but I don't agree with him that it would of made him a puppet. If Peters had of went back to the player after the captain confronted him and apologized while asking for different music we wouldn't be in this situation. It's not rocket science, when you say controversial racist or bigeoted shit in a role where you are not allowed to do that and then double down on it you are going to get fired. It should really be that simple and a lesson that the NHL will teach I'm sure in the future.

I'll also add that while Babcock messed up with making Marner build that list and then showing it to some players at least he apologised for it long ago to all involved. That's the key when you fuck up. Don't wait to apologize until someone makes you especially with something that could be socially sensitive.

Yes, I would say you are 100% correct there, on all 3 situations. Step 1 to getting over these types of situations is at least admitting that you are sorry. You never know how something you say is going to affect another person. So if there is an issue, talk about it, learn from it and apologize and it should usually resolve itself for all sides.

It's starting to fell like the GM is trying to hang onto his guy rather than actually conducting an investigation. It's been confirmed what Peters did. More shit he's done that's illegal, physical violence, has been confirmed by a pretty trusted name in Hockey. Just let him go already.

    Barrie under Babcock, 0 goals.
Barrie under Keefe, 3 goals in 3 games.

Think that Babcock misused him yet?

Is that not a somewhat common thing? Kinda like pulling a goalie, lights a fire under their ass. Or he was really a dick like people are saying in the thread.

I'm leaning towards the team tuned him out. They could relapse but they are playing a different game that seems to be better for the personnel they have.

Also I'm kind of sad we didn't get to see Bernie puke. What a weird set of circumstances.
