I have that pack! Bought it a couple of years ago after deciding I wanted to get back into backpacking, but due to an ankle replacement I'm limited to a 40 lb load - I didn't want to carry more than 30 lbs.

It seemed like an awful lot of money for a bag with straps and was a hard decision, but one I'm glad I made. I don't quite get the base weight mentality because ultimately you have all the weight on your back. I haven't done any really long hikes but several in the 4-5 day range. My total pack weight including water, food and fuel was no more than 28 lbs (including the food I had not eaten). The pack handled it well; I think hyperlite weight limit for that pack is 35lbs.

Every single thru hiker I've run across on the AZT that has one swears by them. I'm sure I'll get one eventually but my Gregory is just super comfortable right now.

32 lbs including 4L of water was the heaviest I've been.
Big 3 pack sleep system and tent=10lbs would be 8 with the HMG

I'm creeping up on 50 so 10-15 years. I'd probably retire in NV or AZ. Then I can still come enjoy CA without paying all the taxes, fines, and penalties. In the meantime I'll be in Owens as much as possible.

Hoping to make it out there next weekend from 12/6-12/8. Goals are Every Color You Are, Jug Start Acid Wash Right, maybe start working on Morning White Dove, and if i build the courage High Plains Drifter. Waiting to see if my friends are free that weekend first. Any other recommendations?

That plastic sticker that comes on it is just for shipping purposes. Take it off. Go on Amazon and there are adhesive glass screen protectors that are manufactured as the same size as the inReach screen. Use those.

Considering that most BF sales are door busters on disco products or old crap, getting 10% off on the latest products is pretty uncommon. You can actually get whatever you want and save, even if it's custom.

20% off everything at www.packitgourmet.com through December 3 when you use code THANKYOU at checkout. My favorite freeze dried meals of all. Real ingredients, real food textures, rehydrate fast, no preservatives, tastes like real food with real nutrition. Great selection, and you can even buy separate ingredients and build your own meals. Satisfying.

If you get Every Color go have a look at Action Figure and The Gleaner. Those 3 are, IMO, the best V6's in Bishop. Morning Dove is harder then High Plains so if you feel good on Morning Dove High Plains shouldn't be that out of reach. Since you'll be in the Acid Wash cave anyway you should at least try Acid Wash Left. Rights very good but left is a better line. It's not that much harder.

If you make it over to the Milks the Leary/Bard Arete is a must do. Saigon is also worth putting some time in on. Seven Spanish Angels is a blast. If you like getting away from the crowds and doing high highballs Secrets of the Beehive is well worth searching out. Flyboy and it's sit start are pretty good. Those should keep you busy for a while.

In my email. It’s mine but I won’t use it as coupons don’t apply to the pro shop.

I like the patagonia one a little better but for the price the EB one should fit your needs.

Yea, I been looking at Flyboy. The last move kind of scares me. Havent touched it but its such a big move high up. Well, high up for me. hahaha. I actually went to look at The Gleaner last time. Couldn't figure out where the start was. Is it a two hand match start on the under cling horn? Seven Spanish Angles is another one on my list.

How do you compare Every Color to The Hulk? two different styles of climb so its hard to compare. Which would you consider the harder V6?

The Gleaner starts matched on the horn. Right hand as a pinch/undercling and left hand on top for compression. You eventually want your left foot on the rail out left that's at shoulder height. That sets you up for the crux.

As far as the Hulk goes it's only two hard moves. The only reasons it's so popular is because Peter Croft did the FA and it sits right in the middle of the trail. It's hard to walk by a group with 20 pads down and not try it. Every Color has 12 moves and none of them are easier then V4. It's hard from the start to the finish. Every Color is a front runner for the hardest V6 in Bishop. The Hulk isn't nearly as hard.
