hell yeah, the mountains all around Monrovia are going to be getting dumped with snow. Too bad there's no offroading allowed by the forest service in those mountains :( Unless you count Azusa, but we all know Azusa OHV sucks a big one.

Although for years I had heard that the Rincon Truck trail across the San Gabriels was closed down, but I heard recently on here that if you call the forest service or stop by their station they will give you the combo to open the gate. I'll have to try that out soon.

I haven't run that trail in probably 15 years, since back when I had my '99 Prerunner, but I remember it being fairly easy in that thing if not a little sketchy in some spots. Basically an old fire road that goes along the very top of the San Gabriels. Definitely want to see if I can check it out again if only for the nostalgia

So what’s the chance there will still be snow come Sunday?

It won't be snowing but there will definitely still be snow up in the mountains, yeah. Big Bear is getting close to a foot of it, that's not gonna melt away in a couple days unless this cold snap is followed immediately by a heat wave lol

I want to go up there so bad :(

Most definitely will be heavy accumulations of snow on the ground and some roads plowed / cleared but not all

Awesome. I work Friday an Saturday but should have Sunday off and I haven’t seen snow in a while
Might just go to cleghorn instead of dealing with big bear traffic

Nice, bookmarking that site. I'm going to make a point to check that out soon. It's right in the mountains above where I live. Not a hard trail but at least it's something not over an hour away, other than Azusa OHV which I've vowed to never go back to

Although I'm guessing with the snow, the rangers probably won't give out the code...I'll call them up later and ask.

I did most of the Rincon a couple months ago. You have to ask the Ranger at Azusa for the combo and fill out some paperwork. Its a pretty easy fire road.

Let me know when you go. I think I am finally going to get new shoes this Friday.
Current KO2s are like 3 years old at this point.

yeah I was impressed you made it through miller jeep trail earlier this summer with those nearly bald KO2s lol

Will let you know, got the camping trip with my dad, brother and nephew this weekend so maybe next weekend?

Still undecided where we are going to camp on Saturday since my dad is adamant about not being 'too cold'...though I did just tell him about the little Buddy space heaters they make for tents and he ordered one on Amazon, so hopefully that will make him happy. He keeps suggesting we go to the desert, but I show him the forecast and it's no better than it is up in the mountains lol.

Beach camping? That'd be cool but I would have to be able to drive my truck onto it cause of my RTT...which I think limits us to only Pismo, at least in CA.

yup. I'll never forget the first time I did Mojave Rd in December of 2016 and it was 12˚ the first night with heavy wind. I swear I nearly died when I stumbled out of my tent at 3am to take a piss. That's the coldest I've ever been
