You guys can all laugh or think I am nuts or whatever - thats cool. I just dont feel like its good customer service and I am totally entitled to my own opinion. I had Icons on my last truck and never had any issues. If this is how all these companies work - so be it. still not what I would call good business practice but whatever.

We aren't making fun of you, just trying to explain what your expectations should be. We know it's inconvenient as you may not have the time/skills/tools/space to do your own work or feel like driving without a shock for an indeterminate amount of time while the bad one is sent back.

As with any product sometimes things miss quality control or something happened after install that caused the leak and it needs to be properly evaluated before Fox just sends out a new set. This isn't unique to just performance suspension components, if a speaker failed, Pioneer wouldn't just send you a new one, you'd send it in to be evaluated, if the video card on your PC crapped out Nvidia would want you to send it back. These aren't throwaway parts that have such a margin that a company will just send you a new one to keep you happy. You may be unhappy with the level of customer service you received but your expectation is unreasonable.

Your best bet is to reach out in your local TW thread, maybe someone has a set they can loan you while you send yours back. A shared six pack and pizza would be enough to convince me to let you borrow the 5100s I have chilling for just such an occurrence.

I kept my old shocks for this reason - when it came time to service my Kings I just put the old setup back on in my driveway and dropped the Kings off to be rebuilt. Swap back out a few days later when it's done. No need to have the truck down in the meantime

This is TW so you should expect some kind of shit coming your way; it's the internet and nothing should be taken seriously.

Question is though, did you completely skip the informative posts telling you what you should expect?

I've got a pair of Fox 2.0 sitting in the rain as we speak but I'm not going on posting a thread about how I should expect a new set hand delivered to me now am I.

My point. so if it does come to light that the issue is theirs - is it fair for me to have paid good money for a product and then have to pay shipping+install+reinstall and be without my truck just for them to fix their mistake?
    Thats my point.

I already stated above I would be happy to give my my CC# to hold. Shock arrives - their issue=already replaced. Shock arrives - my issue=charge my CC

Its also luck of the draw. All companies will leak some off the line had some bad seals and not one company is going to be leak free. I have seen that on kings, fox, icons (more so). I run kinds now and have been lucky but I have see each one do this. Better ask would be to see if they can send you a new seal. Its not hard to swap a seal out on the rebuildable shocks from all these companies. I agree it would be nice if they were more helpful here but getting the parts under warranty would be at least a place to start.

Welcome to the internet 'ol boy. Where people will laugh at you and think you're nuts, while telling you that your opinion is kinda skewed. 3 pages of people telling you this isn't how the world works, and you still believe you have the right answer. Good luck out there.

I dont understand how its skewed to think that my time and money are worth nothing.

IF Fox determines its their problem I've still paid for shipping, install/reinstall, and being without my truck. Along with the hassle of it all....
I think you guys are crazy for not holding companies//products to a higher standard :)

How do you know it wasn't installer error that caused the leak? Have you taken this issue up with your trusted 4x4 shop? One day it will become obvious to you that life isn't always fair and the world isn't out to get you specifically. Changing rear shocks is a pretty simple job that is a great way to learn more about how your truck works. It requires the most basic hand tools and doesn't even require a jack. Take this as a learning opportunity or continue bitching on the internet to strangers and let us know how that works out.

If they send you a new one, now they have your used shock that has very little value to them, they can't sell it as new and aren't in the business of selling used parts

You buy Fox shock. Something is wrong with Fox shock after many miles. Fox say, PER OUR WARRANTY (which you agreed to when you bought their product) you send bad shock to Fox. Fox make judgment call if you get new shock or not.

Your opinion is skewed because you think you are entitled to chain of events different from the warranty laid out by the manufacture you bought from.

3500 = many miles? I mean I would hope that its less than a tenth of the life of the shock.

and once again I ask -- if the issue is theirs is it fair that my time and money are not worth anything? I love how everyone chooses to avoid this.....

What you are saying and doing isn’t holding companies to a higher standard, just sounds like most of us are not entitled spoiled little shits that expect the company pamper us because of decisions we made:

Because I already addressed it in my first post, noone is arguing that it doesn't suck that you are out money and time because of a product that failed prematurely. If your trusted 4x4 shop cares about their customers they will help you out, a competent tech can swap a set of shocks in less than 15 minutes. That's an easy goodwill move that costs them almost nothing. Or meet some locals that can help. Or read a DIY how to thread here. Or watch a YouTube video on how to do it. There are lots of solutions, some suck less than others, the one that sucks the most is bitching about it to strangers that don't care enough to hold your hand through it all.

It's a rebuildable shock and has maintenance intervals . These shocks are very easy to service/ rebuild . Why not order a service kit from fox and rebuild them yourself

Because i expect that when I spend my hard earned money on a supposed quality product that it will perform and last and the company will back it up without causing me to incur more expense?

IF they were installed correctly....and if they weren’t abused in other ways. None of which, regardless of what you say can be verified without at least looking at the damaged shock...you see what we are back to?

Sure, I'll cede to you on that point. 3500 miles may not be a significant portion of the shocks life. But if the shock is still so young in your mind, should this not embolden you to send it strait back to Fox post haste for a replacement?

Your time is worth only what someone is willing to pay you for it. This is not an issue of your time and money, its an issue of you accepting Fox's terms when you bought their product.
