Has anyone mounted an additional aux fuse block inside the cabin of a 3rd gen Tacoma? What locations did you use? Is there a mount available or did you have to fabricate your own? Ideas and photos please.

Currently I am working on a project to mount a fuse block inside the cabin. This will be used to power:

    1. HAM Radio
    2. Weboost
    3. Inverter
    4. Juiced Squeeze Phone Mount by Hondo Garage

All low power circuits and powered on Ignition. I am planning to install a direct line from the battery (via a circuit breaker under the hood) into the cabin. A relay will be wired in to capture the IGN trigger from an existing circuit and a Blue Sea fuse box will be powering these accessories. However I am not able to find a suitable location to mount these in the cabin. Ideally I would like these to be under the dash and somewhere in the footwell. Does anyone have experience doing anything like this?

    Hey robssol!

Thanks! However I am looking for ideas on where to mount the fuse block in the cabin and possibly under the dash. I've searched TW for a related thread but haven't found any so started a new one. Any ideas?

I think you are mostly alone in this quest. If you want the fuses accessible (not buried behind trim), you options will be limited to the footwells, glovebox, console, or behind the seats. If you are mounting the fuse box behind the seats, at that point it might as well be under the hood.

Toyota blessed us with ample room under the hood for aux panels. Why not mount under the hood and run a single multi-conductor cable through the firewall for your cabin accessories?

That's the direction I would go. It's a PITA to snake the wires through firewall, but once done everything else is pretty easy. There's just not a lot of places under the dash that are easy access, yet hidden from view.

I thought it would be easier to fish one cable from the battery to the fuse box inside rather than all 6, 8 or 12 wires through the firewall.

All the accessories that I plan to power through this are located inside the cabin so makes sense to put the fuse box in the cabin. I have seen people do it in the 4runner forums, thought maybe some one would have tried in a Tacoma?

Behind the seat: I have the factory JBL sub on one side and I am using the other side for tools and other kit.

Under the seat: I plan to mount the Weboost and the HAM under the two front seats.

Hence under the dash in the footwell seemed like a good spot for the fuse box.

How about something like this through the firewall?
    https://www.pacergroup.net/unshield...zvCL5ox0Az_CEjOQ5C0552xFpLuxUnQYaAvHUEALw_wcB

Plenty of leads all in one making going through the firewall much easier. Just a thought.

That is one way to go I guess. Pull all 12 fused sources into the cab and use a factory style wiring harness connector to distribute to all individual accessories. But you would still need to collect all the negative leads and terminate in a common ground bus bar I would think. Also, every time you want to add/remove an accessory, you have to rewire the connector harness.

I put a blue sea safety hub 100 under the rear seats. It’s mounted right in the middle of the cubby under the seats.
It has 3 large fuses for my amps, and 4 smaller blade fuses for my accessories.

Trucks in the shop right now, but when I get it out I will take picture for you. Give me a few hours.

The safetyhub that I am using is not ignition set, so its always powered on. But all the things I have hooked up to it turn on and off with the car (audio related stuff that has its own remote turn on)

If I were to do it again, I would of gotten the safety hub 150 instead of the 100. It has a few more outlets, but also has a ground bar.

How much space will you need? There's not too much behind the little cubby to the left of the wheel. It looks like the whole housing might pull out for easier mods/access. Or how about the sunglasses holder? Harder to wire but easier to access once wired.

If you tow without using a towing brake module, you could "re-purpose" the 40 amp fuse n wire already in the cab...it even has a small gauge illumination and ground wire.

I need to mount a 8 or 12 fuse Blue Sea fuse box. I don't have a sunglass holder since I have the TRD Offroad 4x4 and so I have the crawl control knobs up there.

I just need to tap into an ignition live accessory for my relay, I already have the battery wire cut and prepped to bring into the CAB. What I am still searching for is a suitable place to mount the Blue Sea Fuse Box.

Save that for another project, the vehicle already has the fused hot you won't be using anytime soon. Place a high amp relay to be activated by whichever ACC source you choose to provide power to the added fuse panel.

    Add-a-circuit/fuse to an ACC/IGN source.

Are you using the cubby? You could re-purpose the space for the fuse panel. Velcro or 3M tape.
On back of cabin fuse box cover...
3m to side of Certification ECU (other side where the Remote Start ECU is placed)
