Aimpoint. Heaven forbit you have to change batteries in the EOtech and lose the little rubber piece, you'll never get that damn thing to work again. Switched to the Aimpoint during a shoot because of that. Took forever to sight in but I love that thing now!

Yes they are. It would be kinda nice to never have to worry about batteries.

For an Acog you would pay that much. Reflex top out around $650.

Josh's BS opinion is to go with an Aimpoint. I like the battery life, durability etc. The EOtech's reticle is too "busy" for my taste, but I can shoot both just fine. I've got a comp M2 (M68 CCO) and can hit a man sized target at 500yds. Same for the Eotech.
Shoot both and see how you like them. Both are great optics.

That's cool bro, I get a little froggy on the subject to. The 1x24 reflexs do look small, the 1x42 models look to be a decent size. But I'll have to see in person.

Not to toot my own horn but I would consider myself one of the foremost experts in weapon optics you will meet. NFA dealers, highend collectors and other officers value my insight on optics. The Reflex (specifically the Reflex I) is a horrible optic. Super dark blue tint, reticle that washes out due to dimness, etc. It just sucks. Dont get a reflex. Even the Reflex II =, although much improved is not IMO as good as the Aimpooint. Not havig to worry about batteruies is the Aimpoint... 5-7 years non stop use. The tritium in the ACOGs often goes out in that time so its not really that much better for battery life as its low level illumination requires tritium as its "battery" though the fiberoptics still work. You also have to use the silly polarizing filter which further darkens your view through the optic. The ACOG scope line is also not $2000 unless you are getting 2 optics (piggybacked Dr Optic or similar) and then youd be better off IMO going with an Elcan Specter DR if you were in the $2000 price range. If you want an ACOG scope get an ACOG scope and use it for its intended role. I have owned and used all the optics we are discussing. Eotechs have had all sorts of issues here and there... bad electronics, bad battery connections, drain bateries when off, just to name a few. They got their SOPMOD contract puled their issues were so bad... they were supposed to totally surplant Aimpont for the red dot optics in SOPMOD block II. I saw one of the defective units... it would make the reticel go blurry and streaked across the screen if you turned it up past half way. Plus the laser which makes the retice wreaks havoc with my astigmatism. Also dislike integrated ARMS mounts. I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT THE THING TO KNOW IS...

Get the Aimpoint and you will not need another optic for years, not need to turn it off or change batteries for years, nor will it fail you.

DevL, all the online research all have done on this issue is spot on with your summary. Trijicon tritiums doesn't require batteries, butit doesn't last forever. Typically 12-15 years is it's lifespan. Then you have to replace which could cost $100's on top of the $500-$1500 you spent depending on which optic you choose. EOTech's have been plagued with problems, most have been addressed, but you never know. I know several of our service men and women use this sight everyday. But then again they are over 400,000 in use today by our military. Aimpoint was what I was leaning towards in the first place, because of the battery life and the constinent good reviews.

My next question for the aimpoint users is: do you prefer the 2 or 4moa dot?

I've Got a 2 Moa, and I like it. It reall depends on how far you plan on engaging with it. Smaller is not always better.

For my needs 100-150yds would be my max. 90% of my work will be about 50yds.

4moa is way too big imo.

You'll be fine either way, 2moa will help at longer range.

I had the eotech 512 but on my new build I went with the aimpoint. I just prefer the single dot and also the battery life is outstanding.
