Just wanted to say thanks to the forum for all the help and advice over the last few years. With 2 growing kids, the double cab was quickly running out of room. Decided to get something bigger (not better). Will always have love for Toyota and the Tacoma, especially its resale value. Because of that and the generous rebates, I'm happily moving up to a 2019 Powerwagon. AMF and bye for now. Would love to get a 1st or 2nd gen to daily drive when the MPG starts to get to me.

The new Rams are very impressive. Hands down the best vehicles in FCA's less than impressive portfolio. If i were to go fullsize, I would look very hard at the Rams. I don't think i would have said that a couple of years ago. Good luck and enjoy!

Quick question: Why a powerwagon over the rebel?

Good move re: the powerwagon spec, excellent off-road performance and better resale than the run of the mill ram.

I'm curious what rebate amounts apply in the NYC area...

Cool truck, but I think we gotta drop the BS in society where we justify stuff like this because “we are running out of room for our growing kids”. Lots of families with more children than you get by with a Corolla or a Civic. I raised a family of 5 with a 1990s Camry.

If you can afford a splurge, and a luxury pickup, I’m all for it. But don’t make your children the reason. A minivan would be far more practical if that was the only goal.

I own a couple of the 4th generation rams for my electrical contracting business and they are awesome pickups - lots of power and they have been flawless.

You just posted the automotive equivalent of this:

    Clearly two different situations.
OP has the money to upgrade to a bigger truck. His reason was his kids, so that’s a valid reason. Who are you to say it isn’t ?
Is it because you weren’t in the same financial situation ?

I just got a new 1600 square foot 3 bedroom condo for my new family. We added a little one this year. Baby girl.

However my dad comes from a 799 square foot house and 7 siblings.

Does that mean my moving wasn’t justified ? Because I’m in a different position in my life ?

OP. Haters will always find a reason to hate. Congrats on the new truck !

Dodge PW would have been my choice too if I’d gone full size. But even with $10k off, they’re still a bit pricey.

Who’s hating? Just stating facts. I drove a Camry because it was a great car and paid for. Could have afforded something more bloated, and if I did, I would own it for just that. I wouldn’t be saying “I need an Earth Roamer for my growing family”.

Im sure OP can take a little perspective without the tears welling up.

Man I took a serious look at a new RAM, they would be my choice for a full size these days, just cant beat the value for what you get and the best looking in my opinion. I wouldn't be too worried about FCA QDR, my mom's JLU (one of the first off the line) has been flawless.

Why a power wagon and not a Cummins? My deleted and tuned 2011 would get 20 miles a gallon easy

I actually went to Maryland to get it because they were more generous with the rebates. I got almost 12K off the sticker and they gave me 30K on the trade. I proposed that to NY/NJ dealers to save me the trip and they laughed at me. So I took a trip, happy I did. Most dealers in NY are somewhere around 5-7K off with their employee pricing sale.
