Land Cruisers and Land Rovers are different.

Land Rovers are capable shitboxes that break down all the time
Land Cruisers are reliable, capable shitboxes.

I'm actually a big fan of the E46, and e89 for the U.S. market.

I think they are easy to work on, inexpensive to DIY, with simple not over thought electronics.

Perfectly priced for cars that will begin turning 25 soon.

Yes, I missed that. I'm so used to hearing Africa = Land Rover, I missed he was referring to LC.

I have never been to Africa so I can't say any positives or negatives from a first hand .

There is nothing wrong with bmw . In the USA all German cars get a bad rap though . I’m a dealership tech at dodge and everyone talks shit when they see a German car . At least they put a little thought into it . In reality all cars and trucks have there weak points . Toyota Lexus IS on top of it though for the most part.
Im actually pretty happy with my commuter . Golf R I’m at 396 ft lbs of torque and 389 hp . Awd and 3,300lbs . Fun little thing . It didn’t take much to squeeze that power out of it either.

I was the Hilux anti-Christ until I saw this video. Just fuckin hated them.

However, I am forced to admit it looks pretty good as a spartan diesel on 33’s (or are they 35’s?)

Note the constant squeaking and creaking of the leaf springs.

Could be a number of factors.
    • Number of gas vehicles compared to diesel might not make it worth it
    • North American driving which is mostly freeway which most people probably want Gasoline for passing power
    • Consumer wants shifting towards crossovers vs diesel powered pickups (RIP Dodge Ram diesel manual)
    • Might not be easy to bolt diesel into a Tacoma economically
    • Hilux’s aren’t built to NHTSA standards
    • America shifting towards hybrid and electrification
Beats me dude, maybe it just even wouldn’t sell here.

hmmm... some cars made for foreign markets are exactly the same as US market ones.

Ones of driven both US counterparts included:
German VW Passat, BMW 735i, Venezuelan VW Type 2 Bus
Japan built Lexus IS, LS, RX, Toyota Supra, MR2, Prius, 86

All seem identical to American counterparts.

Buick, albeit GM owned, is the most popular marque in China.

I’m partial to the Bmw New Class, E30 (first car), and E28 myself.

I have owned several BMW’s across time and space and I struggle with maintenance for all them. I am toying with the idea of a 128i as a commuter though...

The E30, E28 and the E34 were the golden years of BMW

I tuned out after the E46

I haven’t done any research and honestly have no idea or educated opinion on this matter but I can confidently say the Tacoma is superior in every way.

That’s funny you say that with the E46. I know the M3 is amazing and everyone’s darling however I think the E46 sedan (like 330i) without ZHP and all that. Something about the average-ness that’s gets me going.

I struggle to understand what this has to do with this thread. Did you mean to post it somewhere else, realize that you misposted it, and then decide to pretend that you posted it in the HiLux thread on purpose?
