About 6 months ago I was going down the highway and started hydroplaning. I started to go sideways so I corrected. It kicked me into the lane next to me and there was a car there so I had to correct again. It sent me into a spin. On the 2nd 360, i bounced off the concrete median. I managed to only hit the front and I didn't hit any other car. I got out, ripped the bumper off, through it in the back and kept going so I wouldn't get a ticket :D!! It was about $6000 in damage but thats what insurance is for. Here are the before and after pics....

those aren't TAKOs on that truck when you wrecked it, right?
which are in your "before" pic
no police report and your insurance is going to cover it?

nope, they were shitty duelers that I bought the truck with....got the new tires after the wreck...Yup, I went home and called insurance. I told them that I didn't file the police report because it was a dangerous part of the highway and If I called the police they wouldve given me a ticket for leaving the scene of the crime! USAA is the shit

Telling them that you left cause you didn't want a ticket was probably not a great idea-Lucky seems like they didn't pick up on it. If you didn't hit anyone else- There is a slim chance that you would have gotten a ticket (unless there is more to the story).

Insurance doesn't care what happened when your car is the only one involved- You are going to 1) use up your "accident forgiveness" or 2) have a high premium...No skin off their backs.

Yeah....My guess is you used your "accident forgiveness" credit. USAA doesn't advertise it I don't think...but it's there. After my wife's accident it showed up in some of the paperwork we got...

I think you usually do get a ticket even if you don't hit anyone else. I crashed my parents car when I was in high school (on I-610 in NOLA) and got a ticket for Failure to Maintain Control and I didn't hit anything but the guard rails.

That cop was an ass. My wife has been in three accidents down here (two were the other drivers fault) and no tickets have been issued.

You're probably right about him just being an ass. This was in the early 90's and the mostly black NOPD didn't really care for us lighter folks!

Exactly why I left. I wrecked my motorcycle 2 years ago on the street...didn't hit anybody at all. Got an almost $200 ticket for failure to maintain control. I was so pissed because it was just salt in the wound. I wasn't about to go through that again hahaha.

The shop you took it to did a good job restoring your taco...did they use OEM parts or aftermarket? did you take it to a Toyota dealer?

I rolled my 2002 Tacoma on ice in Fairbanks, Alaska in 2002. I didn't hit anyone else, the cop didn't give me a ticket, and USAA jacked my rates from $120/month to $202/month. I didn't see this premium increase until my policy came up for renewal. It stayed elevated for three years.
