Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I’m one of those old guys which feel kids should buy their own cars. Mow yards, wash cars whatever it takes, buy your hot mountain bike. Turn 16, or your state’s legal age to work. Ride bike to Mikey D’s or grocery store, flip some burgers, bag some groceries, save some dollars, RESEARCH, learn, dream, then buy your own vehicle. Then learn to maintain it.

That was the norm when I was growing up too. Having your own rig meant freedom.

OP, this is good advice. I'd take it a step further, though. Put on your best 'Karen' wig ask to speak to the sales manager and general manager, if available. Explain your situation without throwing out accusations, and maybe you'll be able to get a few free oil changes, service discounts, or some tires or something. Salesmen care about sales, but GMs care about their reputation. Since the deal is already done and they've already made a few bucks off of the mistake, they should be open to helping you out. It's basically customer service and retention, at this point.

Honestly the only person to blame here is the stealership who fucked you over with no lube. Salesperson repeatedly saying SR5 was a dead giveaway that something was fishy.

he didnt get a bad price. no one was fucked over. he basically didnt know what an SR5 came with and wasnt paying attention. He's an 18 year old who got a newish car. Better off than 70% of the kids now a days and he will have a vehicle that should last him until he gets well into his career after college when he can buy the truck he really thinks he wants.

I'd guess if OP had spent a decade (or more) mowing lawns, shoveling driveways, carry guy's golf clubs, and shopping trucks he couldn't afford through 2-3 redesigns/generations, he would know every trim level, every option, every paint code, new prices, used prices, how many bolts of each size it takes to build the truck, etc etc.
Just like the big GOV, spending other people's money is easy.
Not sorry, a little harsh, but sounds like it's needed.

That truck will get his kids to college if he’s in the south.... provided it’s taken care of.
