Front is in the engine bay, right off the manifold and generally viewed as the best way in terms of performance.

Rear is much further down the exhaust piping. Only reason to mount it here in my opinion is because there's no space in the engine bay.

No matter where the turbo is it's going to act as a muffler. Front mount does not require intercooler either for low boost applications and an intercooler would still be beneficial on a rear mount as compressed air generates heat. The cooler you can make that air the better.

For what it's worth my front mount does have a bit of a turbo wine similar to a diesel. It's not nearly as loud but I can hear it.

I’m just quoting directly from STS and based on the fact that that STS system has a very unique sound. Does yours sound like that from the outside?....

Neither requires an intercooler, sure. But the turbo that far downstream With air going over it absolutely doesn’t get nearly as hot and it has quite a distance until it get a to the intake. So it really doesn’t NEED one as much as the front mount does. This is what STS markets as a benefit.

Rear mount turbo is not great. Lots of lag. Piping is terrible to do and if you off-road forget about it.

All you need for that is opened pipe. So 3" turbo back and it'll do that sort of. You'll never really get that sound since....well it's a gas motor. You won't have the chatter with it.

Now the whistle sound out of the exhaust? Yes. Just open up the pipe.

Do you have a specific video or sound clip? I'm sure mine is audible from the outside. I also have a muffler still because I like quite, I should take er for a rip without it sometime though. I haven't had someone else drive it to hear it though. @Squeaky Penguin or @Night Eagle what's it sound like?

Isn't the chatter just the style of BOV?

I just love the way turbos on a Diesel that’s had some work sounds. I’m not sure what people do to them but I’m assuming intakes and deleting some emission stuff. As well as bigger turbos etc.

    It's literally just opened exhaust.

4" straight pipe on diesels usually.

It's a back pressure thing, on a turbo system you want as little back pressure as possible. This helps with spool time. Which is important on a diesel that only has 4k rpms.

Supras with 3-4" turbo back exhaust sound like a the jet engine you want. Rear mount turbo isn't worth the hassle. Your nipping yourself in the but on performance too. Can talk to @Torspd as he had one.

I agree on the rear mount thing not being worth it. Was just under the impression that it was a unique sound due to its position. If I ever go turbo I’ll definitely run a large pipe.

Fuck, with that logic, why do you even need the 14mm wrench. Just use an adjustable wrench for the whole fuckin' job...

Drove 8 hrs round trip, mostly back roads, a month ago and it just destroyed my back for days. I finally took the time to change the bench seat with my brother's spare seats. They're '99 Acura Integra seats. Originally I started out making brackets for them but one of the rails of the seats were missing parts then found that the rails to the bench bolted up to the seats pretty easily.

So they're split using half tacoma and half acura seat rails. I did cut the mounting tabs on the front of the acura rails to rest on the bar by the transmission. On the driver seat, I had to weld a tab on the seat lever of acura rails so that the tacoma lever can pull and release the teeth out the grooves. On the passenger side, there is a bolt in the middle of the tacoma rail that is welded/rivoted on raised piece of metal, I notched out a space for on the acura seat mounts. I also drilled out the rear rail hole bigger to give more clearance for the bolt that goes into the seatbelt hole.

Had I started knowing how it would fit, I figure this would of taken no more than a few hours, but it took me several. It pretty intuitive. Take bench out, rails off bench, take off rails to corresponding seat, notch one, cut tabs, weld tab, cable or rod for lever action, bolt up.

I just relieved to finally have seats that recline and have adjustable lumbar support.
