    True.
So it is 6 speed AT tranny, but it has 3 mods for the torque converter starting with 4th speed (unlocked, partially locked, locked).
When The converter is changing the mod, the engine sound is changing and drivers feel a "shift", but in reality the gear did not change. When TC is unlocked, the truck accelerates better, which also leads to believe the truck has downshifted.
Also when VVT is changing angles, it sound like a shift.

My 19 hunted pretty bad...especially with my mods but with the new 5.29's and OVTune it's steak sauce.

Just ask the manual trans crowd how well they back up an incline while towing, have no clutch pedal feeling or love to make their insecurities go away while bashing the auto crowd. (Just stirring the pot)

Let me help you with the stirring. The MT guys should be using rotary dial phones, too.

You my friend need a manual transmission just to burn off some of your built up aggression. Manuals are definitely the way to go though since you brought it up and are much better in terms of decreased issues overall.

I would have never responded if you hadn’t been so bent out of shape over the MT guys. Relax man!!! It’s a free country and Thanksgiving for God’s sake. Eat some turkey.

PS... You are literally doing the same thing you hate by isolating and attacking people that are “fouling up every thread they can to justify their transmission choice”. Relax and just go with the flow man. It’s TW which is just an Internet forum and not worth getting your panties all in a bunch!

Oh boy. You my friend have no idea what you are talking about. You are missing my point. I am not being aggressive, if anything I am trying to explain that 'mt guys' (seriously?) should relax and not think they are special just because they are rowing gears with their right arm and left foot. FYI, I have owned many vehicles with manual transmissions, 38 of the 49 to be exact. And I still do (2) and I enjoy them. But that doesn't make me a 'MT guy' because there is no such thing. We are just guys driving the same vehicle.
So please, relax and just go with the flow man. It’s TW which is just an Internet forum and not worth getting your panties all in a bunch!

My 2020 has no issues with shifting. Much better than the 2017 I test drove back in 2018.

I’d probably give up power windows if it meant I didn’t have to pilot that awful auto slush box which has been mated to the 3.5

The only time I notice it hunting is in cruise control, but my other vehicles are the same way in cruise control. The more I drive it the better I find it. At 4500km’s I’m probably at the end of my break in/transmission learning cycle

It was pretty bad on my 2017. 5th and 6th are so close together, you really can’t fix that unless they change 6th gear.

Your only recourse is to use S4, shift up to allow 5th, and lockout 6th.

I’ve pretty much decided it is not going to prevent me from buying a 2020. Just gonna wait a bit to get the best price.

Lol I waited 3 years so when the 2020’s were announced I ordered one, $1900 below MSRP on a vehicle not yet in stock was good enough when I was waiting that long lol.

I actually find it worse for dropping down, like I’ll be going up a hill (in cruise) and it will drop down to 4th I think and go up to like 3600rpm when 5th could easily handle the hill with lower rpms

Things you Canadians call hills, we call mountains here in Texas. :D

If it’s still jumping down to 4th when it isn’t needed, have you tried using ECT?

    Hahaha that could be true!
No actually I haven’t tried it with cruise maybe I should give that a shot. When using it without cruise I haven’t found that I really need it, kind of got used to how it shifts and when to anticipate it. That’s a great idea though thanks
