R2 is restriction 2 for chain control. 4wd with M+S tires or chains.

R3 is 4wd with chains only

R3 means that all vehicles are required to put chains on. All 3 of the roads to big bear are R3 right now.

The exit for Green Valley Rd is about halfway up the highway so its not as bad as having to go all the way up. If by some miracle Coxey Rd is still open you can take that fire road up to Holcomb Creek and then Green Valley

But that would involve starting in Hesperia which means taking the Cajon Pass to get there which could also be pretty bad

Seeing that the roads are R3 in Big Bear makes me a little nervous to go up Saturday morning. I'll have to check how much snow the storm has brought and what the road conditions are Friday night and try to make a decision on going or not.

They aren’t just R3 anymore. All 3 roads in and out of big bear are closed.

likely more because of stuck idiots than anything else, but there is around 14” of snow on the ground.

It's bad up here right now and has been snowing almost all day here in Hesperia so even Coxey rd which is in the Mariana foothills at least 10" of snowfall

At one point earlier this afternoon CHP / Caltrans were thinking of closing the Cajon pass due to dangerous conditions . Currently right now it's snowing in Hesperia and it's a heavy snowfall

I'm very careful about who I help pull out of the snow or recover when it comes to the general public...I had some idiot up in Big Bear a few years ago in a Nissan start spinning his wheels while I was crouched down in front of his bumper with my hand in the wheel well looking for a recovery point. I walked away and left him there. Few times I've done it since I ask the person to stand outside their car until I hook them up. People loose common sense when they're frustrated and scared from getting stuck

I've been struggling lately as my good l/leg which was diagnosed with a neurological disorder can't support the weight of my r/leg which had the knee replacement

I fell last night getting up off my couch and rolled my left ankle badly when that leg buckled trying to take the weight from my r/leg . I first thought I broke my ankle or tore ligaments as it hurt really bad and swelled up and turned black and blue

Trying to walk around with a bad ankle on one leg and the other leg from recent knee replacement has been challenging

As for my knee replacement surgery I'm now dealing with scar tissue building which is causing problems with ROM . Also my l/leg neuro issues are slowing my rehab on my r/knee
