Between the KC and the rigid for fog and seeing deer in the side ditches. I see a fair amount of fog, and a lot of deer and hogs. Is a taller beam or a more focused beam better for critter?

What year is your truck? It does make a difference for your use case.

On a late model 2nd Gen (12-15) the Rago D-Series mounts angle the Rigid fogs to the sides several degrees, which makes a huge difference in shoulder illumination. On 3rd Gen they mount pointing straight ahead, providing much less shoulder illumination, in which case the 360s would be better to compare to KC. The Rigid D-series beam is not as wide as the KC but both are comparable in height, the 360 beam is taller than the KCs and pretty comparable in width but slightly wider. For fog use I would recommend selective yellow, the KC video I linked a few posts up helps highlight the performance difference in fog between short wavelength (high color temp) and long wavelength (low color temp) light in fog conditions. If you have a 3rd Gen, the KC will provide far better shoulder illumination than Rigid, including the 360s as the KCs will mount flush and angle to the side, whereas the 360s will mount recessed and point directly forward, but the KCs are not available in selective yellow, only 5000k white and amber. While the amber is a great color, it lacks the intensity you see in the KC white or Rigid selective yellow offerings and won’t be a great help for critter spotting. 5000k will also be better for critter spotting but less effective in fog.

See my post below comparing the Rigid D-series 12-15 side angled Rago mounts vs the forward facing 360 mounts.

For 3rd Gen I would likely go with the KCs to get good shoulder illumination. I’ve seen some use laminex or hella yellow film over the KCs to knock the color temp down a bit for better performance in fog. I haven’t seen the output of the KCs plus yellow film, I doubt it will fall into the official selective yellow chromaticity window as the product is intended for halogen use which has little blue light to filter so it may have a bit of a green hue with a 5000k light source, but something to consider. Of course alternatively one could always run ditch lights for critter spotting if it is in areas without other traffic.

Haven't popped into this thread in awhile. Crash, amazing work as always. Surprised to see Baja revising their designs, and I'm glad for that. Looking forward to comparison testing of the revised Baja SAE's as well as the upcoming Diode Dynamics SAE Fog's. Eventually I want to swap out my Squadron Sport's for a proper SAE fog.

Patiently waiting for the revised Baja Designs design, and the upgrade package they will ship out for us who currently have the lights.

I have a stage series bar and it's not blue at all. I would call the color a neutral white.

KC HiLites has a set of 6" Gravity auxiliary lights (high beams) in 5000K. Have you looked into those?

The selective yellow pods use a 4000k led, so all you have to do is swap out the yellow lens with a clear one and you will have a 4000k SS3 light. :)

That was a response to my question and Paul was saying that if I wanted to, I could replace their chips with a different chip and make it any color I want and therefore modifying their design/product and voiding the warranty. They brag up the fact that you can change beam patterns and colors on the bars. I believe you still get warranty, or at least it's that way with their SS bars. If you swap lenses on your own, then instead of it being a 3 year full replacement, if you have water ingress then you have to send the bar in for fixing. If the light dies you get replacement warranty. At least that's how it reads to me on their website.

I pulled the trigger on the SS3 Sport yellow fogs! Hope I like them! With the 20% off, couldn't resist..although the $20 shipping kinda killed it..but still went with it.

Just to be clear, you can change the lens on the DD SS3 without loss of 8 year limited warranty. If you want 4000K, you can purchase the yellow and swap the clear lens on it.

If you solder on your own LEDs and physically modify the circuit board to achieve some other color, there is no warranty. Sorry for the confusion.

Our white is true 6000K, which is not a blue color at all. It matches factory LED components.

Are the lenses available to purchase yet? I see the stage series bar lenses but not the SS3.

Yes, we will be testing a vehicle at 10 AM Monday and I'll post here to confirm. Our sale extends through Monday evening.
Not yet, we are using all the lenses we can for immediate production needs and will be packing them up for accessory sale in late December. Unfortunately they won't be too cheap, as they are by far the most expensive component of the lamp. I believe we will have a retail price of $30 ea on them.
Fair enough, I understand! It sounds like a 4000K customized setup would be great for your needs.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! - Paul

Curious if the KC G34 (432) fogs are going away (out of stock) in favor of the pod format. Damn Black Friday decisions

Just bought your yellow sports with BF sale, thanks! I will be switching to clear lenses when they become available to get a 4000 color to go with my 4300 headlights.

I have a 2010 and want to replace my cloudy OEM fog lights. This definitely interest me because I like the yellow fog lights and the BF prices.
I have been trying to decide between the OEM LED or Morimoto XB, but then I saw the details in here about DD and that changes everything. I'm glad I spent a little more time reading through this forum.
