NFL Trash Talkers Thread

One of these years both the Bills and Vikes will play each other in the Superbowl and one of them will finally win. It better be the Bills, I'm not getting any younger here and they have been my team since B&W TV.

Both my favorite teams won yesterday. The Bills and whoever is playing Dallas, America's Team my ass. Wait that is so 90's... Make that the Bills and whoever is playing the Pats.

 

There's no such thing as "America's Team"
In a given era there's been a team that has been the most dominant, won the most Superbowls, etc. but outside of their home turf everybody hates them. And the teams that have sucked? Everybody hates them too. The mediocre teams? Outside of their home turf, nobody likes them either.
The Cowboys are the only ones that have been arrogant enough to think that everybody was rooting for them just because they got the most screen time.


Edit- It should be noted that I first got into football in the 90's, when Dallas was a dominant team and the Patriots sucked, so I spent my 'formative' years hating Troy Aikman, Deion Sanders, Woodson, Irvin, etc. because they won all the time.

 

Only for as long as their run of success lasts. There'll be a surge of jersey sales and other merch, and then as soon as the next phenom team takes over it'll die off.

 

My sister had a very bad 1990s... she had been a Bill's fan since ole OJ was the man up there. So... she had to suffer the pain of 4 straight fails to the NFC East... then the worlds most famous slow speed chase.

She was literally balling and screaming at the TV... " why OJ... why!!!"

We felt bad for her

 

Back in the 60's it was Tom Landry and Roger Staubach but times were different, and they were a class act. Nothing like now LOL. Most people I knew including my family only got 3 stations and if the regional team wasn't on seemed like the Cowboys were. Back in the days of Jim Plunkett I liked New England. Never did care for the New Jersey teams, there is only one NY team and it isn't down there by that turd that hangs off the rest of the State.

Well hell as long as we are telling family secrets...

My youngest sister married a guy from Syracuse, she was a successful Electronic Engineer back when few women were Engineers. They moved to Boston for a couple of years then they moved to RTP area of NC and been there ever since.

The whole damn family are Patriots fans, including my sister. We still love her, just didn't realize she rode the short school bus and end up being a special needs person.

My oldest son moved to Boston a few years ago and said a lot of people there are Bills fans this year. He is still a Tampa fan, because his Grandmother lived between there and Orlando. At least he wasn't a Dolphin fan would have had to throw his ass out of the house at an early age. Or at a minimum made him wear my "Squish the Fish" shirt.

 

How is NE only favored by 3.5 @ Houston ? They should win this easy, maybe it a trap.

 

Got 1,800 for my LSU vs Florida tickets last time Tebow visited Tiger stadium. Most I’ve pulled on a game. I would definitely sell.

 

If you base "America's team" on the spread of fans, Pittsburgh has it.

There are Steelers bars throughout the world. Mostly because the city is depressing and people get the fuck out when they can.

Same as Buffalo, although the City of Buffalo is improving IMO and on the way back up again. Haven't been out of Country since I retired from the Navy in 95 but most people around the world knew who the Bills were. And I've been in Bills Backer bars all over the Country.

At least Pittsburgh doesn't have to wonder if it is a drinking town with a Sports problem. Or a Sports town with a drinking problem. Hmm now that I think about it, never mind.

 

We (had) our own Eagles bar down here... Hurricane Michael killed that.

Saints, Packers (and yes) the Steelers had their own too. Saints bar still around though.
