    Although I'm not comparing apples to apples....i can confirm that you can retrofit an induction scoop to an aftermarket intake (box).

    I'm using the Volant scoop on a TRD Gen1 intake. Like Jesse mentioned, you just need some correct sized silicon couplers and something for the couplers to clamp onto. I used a Nissan MAF adapter because it had a squarish flange to a circular (3") outlet.

    I cut a hole into my TRD Gen1 intake box and secured the nissan maf adapter to the box so the 3" portion protrudes from the hole that i cut out. Then its a matter of using the correct coupler to join the scoop to the 3" pipe.

    Thanks fellas, I figured it wouldn’t be too big of a project so long as I knew the piping on the scoop will reach the box (AFE Pro Dry S intake) also Henry, I figured I’d ask ya know. Lol, don’t know unless you do....I bought mine gently used so I didn’t get a choice.

    If he would be open to designing something like this from the ground up then he should consider maximizing the available space there for an increase in overall coolant capacity. Since it's a universal unit for both manual and auto trucks he could offer two different versions since the mounting is done in two different locations. I would definitely switch back to this style reservoir if he made them! :thumbsup:

    I have thought about it. I made this one for myself. Notice my black catch can below and in front of the reservoir. I have thought about making a single unit that would serve as a catch can on one side and intercooler reservoir on the other.

    I really dont know why you would want a large reservoir in the engine bay. You want the smallest reservoir which still allows ample room for coolant expansion. Let me explain in a different way @12TRDTacoma ;), then if you still disagree then we can shake on the fact that we simply wont agree on this topic. :thumbsup:

    1. How hot is the average Tacoma engine bay?

    Of course this temp will vary greatly depending on oat, driving conditions, etc. but can we agree on 180 degrees for discussions sake?

    2. If the engine bay is 180 degrees on average wouldn't it make sense that all of the items in the engine bay eventually reach that temperature? (not including fluid transfer systems)

    This seems pretty clear cut that everything in the engine bay is going to get hot so why would I want a large storage of my intercooler coolant inside a hot engine bay? Wouldnt all of the coolant in that big reservoir
    try to climb to 180 degrees?

    If anything you want a larger fmic or additional fluid outside the engine bay where it is cooler. @Athlaos system is on point. IIRK he put a motorcycle radiator in series with his FMIC. This is exactly where you want
    your extra coolant, outside the hot engine bay!


    Off topic but I installed the higher capacity intercooler pump and it dropped my inlet temps about 10 degrees. My temp delta with a 2.3 pulley is now the same as when I had my 2.7 on. Definitely a good find and nice real world difference.

    Just gonna throw this other wild idea out there -How about going high(er) end and doing a double wall system and purge it with argon gas for insulation value? Vacuum seal is hard to do but argon is what most home windows use to insulate them plus it's readily available.

    You mean if you had a large reservoir in the engine bay?

    Not needed with a smaller reservoir as the coolant is not in the reservoir long enough to pick up much heat.

    Yes, mainly meant if someone was stuck on the idea of a larger resi. Hell, even a double wall filled with spray foam.
