Take a tropical vacay, dumping that kind of money in this truck is pointless.

Thanks for everyone’s opinions so far. Decided I’m going with the Old man emu Bilstein medium 2” suspension kit. For now, only going to get the shell, suspension, shell top tent, and BFG A/T tires. The bumper with the tire carrier and Jerry cans isn’t needed because those can go in the bed of the truck(tire underneath if it’ll fit), since when we’re camping we’ll be in the rooftop tent.

    more advice/experience/pics still welcome!!

That would be nice, but I fly 3x a week internationally for work. Tropical vacay isn’t really my cuppa tea. Road trip with the fam is :)

I’m doing a build on my 2020 Tacoma spending roughly the same amount. Feel free to follow along if you want. Upgrades include:

    Suspension
    Upper control arms
    Wheels
    Tires
    SPOD for electrical
    Front bumper
    Baja lighting
    Winch
    Roof rack
    Recovery gear
    Bed cover
    DMM

I was able to sell some of the stock parts and recover around $4k so far. With close to $700 in parts still up for grabs. Helps offset all the new stuff.

well being that it will last me hundreds of thousands of miles, I see it as a worthy investment. On top of just enjoying life.

Also have a 2007 FJ for 6 years. 400,000 miles and going strong. These guys don’t die

Yo grom! Iif you are 24 and can even afford a '19 I'm sure you'll be fiinnnee or also will be whom ever co-signed your loan. Spend what ever you want on what ever you want keiki. Also if you are 24 and wanting a "bug out capable" vehicle spend your 10k on a pre-ecu, manual, carbureted, no power steering, piece of farm equipment that can not only get you to your BOL, but plow it and help you pull your harvest haul.

Any consideration to going with a Soft Topper? Only weigh 50 lbs.

I know I'm never going back to rigid caps. (20 years with rigid caps).

To help keep the engine in the power band after you effectively change the gear ratio with different tires. That's the short explanation.

Tundra gets 2 mpg less. If you have that kind of money to spend, you won't miss the loss in mpg. (You will love the power!). I know, I have 5.7 Tundra as well. They rock!

Gonna laugh my ass off if OP hasn't paid it off yet.

The Leer shell is a good idea. That way you can haul stuff around without it getting wet.

Other than that just drive the thing and invest your money. Your Tacoma is already very capable offroad.

Tundra or Power wagon. Once you lift, go bigger tires and pack your crap and your family in the Tacoma you will get about the same mileage but without the comfort and power
