Thats legit! Wanna make me one and give me an excuse to go to bishop lol. I like how that doesnt add a ton of weight like this thing.

 

They are on the Marlin website under HD case mount or something.... Wish I had got the HD mount instead of the rubber mounts, might limit the drive train movement more.

 

Yeah I was looking at those. I will definitely get one, plus you just have to remove the two bolts and it separates from the crossmember. I meant his fabed up plate for him to put the hd mount on lol

the question is what are they gonna offer on blackfriday. I gotta see if I can swing the cash. My eyes say yes my bank says a strong maybe lol

I only came up with the idea and design. A swung by my local fab guys place after work and it was welded up. No CAD was used. Just me and him making some cardboard templates and welding it together. He did TIG weld the sides on in the shop and it sure is pretty. Then it was mig welded to the crossmember. I was at his place for less then an hour and total cost, including the material, was 60 bucks. lol

 

According to Marlins site, if you go with a 4.7 crawl box you're talking about 2000 torques.

And because I'm super good at math i know that's a bit more than stock which is why i added an additional crossmeber.

it's a debated topic for sure but for peace of mind i wanted more support to go along with the increase in power.

 

Math was never my strong point but that sounds like a lot of torques

when I have the money for this mod I will definitely add support. Like I mentioned. Seems silly not to. Thx for the input though. Did you make your crossmember or did you purchase that?

I had to go the custom route as I already had BudBuilt skids underneath and there was no way I was giving those up so custom fabrication it was.

my current setup is
1:1 / 2.57:1 / 4.7:1 / 12.079:1
and double low could be lower IMO, guess it just depends on what you want to do with the truck tho

Thanks for the input, only reason I was thinking 3.8 in the second case was to be a bit “faster” over the 4.3 for general cruising.

 

I don't think the 11.69 is made anymore, when I called last year they said they didn't offer it anymore and 10.34 was the highest they offered. Their retailers haven't updated their websites to reflect their lineup.

 

They need to update their website then

Placed an order yesterday with the 11.69, no one was there when I called, I asked them to call me on Monday to make sure I had all of the options correct. Saved about $800 on the case and adapter

 

Weird, maybe they had a lot of people call and ask about it so they brought them back.

 

I’ll report back on Monday.

So what is the consensus on the add? Options as I see it are:

1: remove and replace with non-add tube
2: wire up switch
3: slide/weld add locked and leave it

Any long term reports on #3? What needs to be done to the cpu, if anything, with this option?

1 and 3 would be my preferences, with 3 ahead due to cost, if it is viable. I understand that 1 might be stronger.

 

The 4wd computer can basically be thrown in the trash. If you wire up a switch u bypass the computer. One and 3 are essentially the same thing but haven’t heard of anyone welding.

 

I read someone mention welding it, haven’t looked into it much yet.

 

I’d go with 1 only because that’s what I did. You can sell your current add tube to someone trying to convert to 4wd to make up some of the cost. 1 is definitely stronger, one continuous shaft from the differential to the CV instead of a stub shaft, sleeve, and front axle shaft.
