If we start talking Limited with the AWD setup then yes there are more differences. But the poster did not state a limited.

 

T4Rs don't rust near as bad either. It's not even a concern with them

 

That is interesting that they don't rust as bad, but seeing as how the rear suspension setup is different, I can understand why it wouldn't be a "concern".

I was speaking from the lack of any real treatment from the factory part.

 

3rd Member isn’t different. Only difference I can think of would be the T4R is setup on coils instead of leafs.

The 4runners weren't built in the US with the same poorly treated steel stock. They were entirely built in Japan with frames made by a Toyota owned steel provider. The Tacoma had the whole sold to the lowest bidder Dana frame issue, with the poor quality recycled steel and poor coating.

 

Output shaft I've read could be different but same transmission.

Different torque converter.

Interior have some differences which is easy to tell by looking at it but the poster was more asking about "issues" with Tacoma's.

Didn't know the valve covers are different though, that's cool to know!

 

3rd member is different than yours, they use the old 8" like the locker has instead of the 8.4

I don’t see how the valve covers are different either, they’re both the same engine. Unless we’re talking about distributor, coil-on-plug, or coilpack.

 

I just skimmed it, but it said the obvious you can’t swap locker pumpkins and standard pumpkins. 8.0” v. 8.4”, which we already knew.

 

James is the one correcting me here

Then again, he thought the 555 and OEM LBJ's in our trucks were exactly the same...
