1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Maybe not as a whole. But I have seen my fair share of rotted 3rd gen T4R frames. IIRC Toyota was sued over it but there wasnt enough cases to justify any sort of service campaign so they brushed it off.

 

In our local FS ads, I never see rusted 3rd gens, plenty of body rusted 2nd and 1st though. Idaho doesn't use a lot of road chemicals, they can barely afford to build the roads let alone clear them haha

It's been on the casual bucket list for 15 years or so. More so after I got a bit more background in supply chain and manufacturing and stuff. Then Toyota's excellence really shined for me. Their incredible results on vehicle reliability are a direct reflection of their dedication to improving processes... Gosh I'll shut up.
Anyways, yeah it'd be fun. That trip has been in back of my mind a while

 

Part 2 has better shots. That's a 1995, maybe they switched to the ribbed (for her pleasure) valve cover on the driver's side a little later on.

 

Yeah I think the issue was more of a East coast thing. But that is understandable, most any vehicle thats 17 years old is gonna rot if its above the NC state line.

They're also just garbage that damages the vehicle more in a crash. He probably had it off when he was having the engine serviced
