I like your thinking a lot I might just do that but will the lift be the same as the 888 coils and other than a stiffer ride will anything else happen if I pair the 5100s with the 886 coils? And also will the 886 coils loosen up over time/sag or does it normally keep the lift in?

Ok might go the 886 route instead of the 888

Here's my logic. The 888s are a physically longer coil than the 886s however the 886s have a higher spring rate meaning they take more weight o compress an inch. Therefore they should be around the same lift height after the 888s wimp out inevitably.
You might end up like some that have miraculously not sagged with 888s but that's a gamble you'll have to take.
As far as the harshness of the ride that's all subjective. I'm running Dakar HD leaf spring with roughly 200 pounds of constant weight in the bed. Everyone said they would ride like crap without the required 660 pounds of constant weight but so far my ride is nicer than stock. Very smooth.

    Coil Specifications:
OME 883: 375mm in height 590 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: "1"
OME 884: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: 2"
OME 885: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: 2.5"
OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate (bumper & winch)
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab with 200+lbs of additional up front weight : 2.5"
OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate (stock)
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: 3”
OME 888: 405mm in height 590 pound spring rate (bumper or winch)
Approximate lift height for 2016+ on 4wd double cab: 2.5”

How much of a lift do you think I would receive upfront if you were to take a guess with the 886. As you can see it's 3mm difference I hope I can get 2.5in that would be perfect. Oh AND I forget to say that these were for 2nd gen tacomas I grabbed this off another thread

That I don't know. I mean it's literally 3mm physical height difference between the two. So it would make sense that they are around the same height of lift with out any extra weight added to the front of the truck

I Wish someone has tried the 886 coils out on the 3rd gen with no bumper or witch so I can see what their lift height was and how the ride quality was also

I might just have to send it and see what happens if the 886 are WAY too stiff then I can always sell them for something else and deal with it for a couple of months until I feel like taking them off again.

Just don’t preload the snot out of the coil and the ride should be fine

285s and no UCAs. Either preload the coil or get a Saws-All.

I'm sorry, but this is like watching a train wreck in slow motion...

Yes, honestly I'd still do it all over again because the ride is SO nice. it's firmer but a good firm, it will make sense when you do it. I LOVE the set up. Wheel hard and it does well. I have 275/70/r17 and theres no rubbing whatsoever. Even with this lift i'd do CMC for 285's because I have a friend with my same setup and he has 285's that dont rub after a CMC.
once these tires go, I'm going 285.

I will also get a bumper with winch within 1 year and will do a diff setup at that point.

I'm leaving the billy's set at 0 and letting the coils do the lift. Also, should I get a 1/4 inch Spacer for taco lean I've read some things about that

I'm going billy's and 886 coils and I'm not planning on doing UCA's yet because I don't have the money at the moment but if my alignment is not gonna work then it's something I'll prob buy in a couple of months.

I'm still debating if I should do the 886 or 888 just because I haven't heard of a person with a 3rd gen and 5100s with 886 coils without a bumper but might do the 886 just because of the sag of the 888 but if it's too stiff and rides like shit then at least I can let other people know not to do it

Some people get the lean, some don’t. 1/4” wont hurt

I didn't. Not planning on upgrading UCAs until I go to 34s to be able to gain more caster. Alignment was fine for me on stocks with my lift

You haven't heard of anyone with that setup because these companies have been feeding us lies. It's funny but true

Eibach or dobinsons coils are another option with the correct spring rate for our vehicle
