Things always tasted better at Grandmoms house. Tried the same foods I liked then and they just don't taste the same. For any folks near the Morgantown PA area at the intersection of rt.23 and rt896 south, there is a supermarket called Shady Maple that packages a lot of there own foods. I always get the white hominy grits. They are the best. The buffet in the building behind the supermarket is good as well.

My dad taught me cornbread in milk as a kid. And, left over grits in milk. Real grits, not instant.
My great grandfather, on my fathers side, was born in Kentucky.

We also learned to eat what was put on the table, not a pick and choose cafeteria. Never thought about it any other way.
The only thing we did not have to eat was the liver and onions my mom liked.

Shit was rough. Those and fried up chicken gizzards. Yeah, we ate those. And stew made with old pumpernickel bread. Dammit. I am still kickin' and my family we never went hungry.

Dont know what it was called, like a turnover but filled with mostly green onions, bacon grease drizzled over it.

I didn't know being over 60 made me an old timer. Badge of honor I suppose. Greetings from Idaho.

Welcome to the porch Denny. Where I am looking, you are a youngster. Turned 71 in June. Some youngsters do stop in occasionally to check up on us old folks. Enjoy the thread.

Howdy Warhawk. I appreciate all that you “Eagle Keepers” did. I NEVER had a bad jet in 20 years. I’ve never worked with a finer group of individuals than I did in the USAF. I sure do miss it. McChord, Elmendorf and Mountain Home myself.

Thanks Duane. Yep, we call it Idafornia now. California is a great state......or at least it used to be (especially the late 70’s/early 80’s). Still some awesome folks there, Beautiful State I just have a hard time with a lot (not all) of the inhabitants.......and the politics. That’s all I’ll say about that.
