Well, your info says you have a second gen, but you're specifically asking for a first gen, so I'm going to assume you know what you're asking about.

On the 2001-2004 (probably earlier as well), first you'll have to remove the cornering lights. After that, there are 7 mount points holding the grill on. 4 on the top and 3 on the bottom. The top ones are easy, as you just stick something really thin into the hole and it allows the clip to come off the grill. The bottom ones... well, its just easier to break the clips and replace, but I'm sure you could do the same thing if you so desired.

To replace the grill, remove the clips from the frame and stick them into the grill. After they're all in, just snap the grill back on and replace the cornering lights.

Really no pics necessary, as you could just be forceful and break all the clips if you really wanted. Many times some will be broken anyway due to road bumps. No bolts or screws holding anything on (except the top one for the cornering lights)

Assume you're going to break at least half the plastic clips each time you remove the grill.

As a result, my grill is held on with zipties, lol

OOOOOR he's been struggling for 9 years straight in his garage, hasn't seen his wife or the light of day in almost 3000 days. Suddenly his phone beeps and notifies him that his 9 year old TW thread has been replied to, he checks and sure as shit....it's the video he's needed to see all this time.

None, why mess with a good thing
Manlaan - I love this forum, I'm outside installing new clips after a headlight upgrade - and I am trying to reinstall grille clips in the reverse of removal - making the rookie mistake of installing clips in the frame then trying to attach the grille. I read your note, had a V-8 moment, went out and attached the clips the grille and snapped the bugger back in place one fell swoop. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
