Washed and scrubbed my TRD Pro SEMA wheels the other day and noticed they lacked that rich matte black they had when they were new 8 mos ago. So I applied some Turtle Wax Ice Seal n Shine and it really cleaned them up.

This new hybrid wax is supposed to last a long time and it's states on the bottle it works for plastics & wheels. Wish I would have taken a before picture but here is the after:

    20191102_182149.jpg 20191101_171014.jpg 20191102_223244.jpg

    Ghetto wheels rock!

    ***Edited for update on 7/9/2022:

Have since switched to NuShine Ceramic spray coating. It seems to hold up longer and thru more washings than Turtlewax Hybrid.

Brake heat will probably cause the sealant to degrade quickly. You may want to try a dedicated wheel coating. They are expensive but most of them are good for 18 to 24 months. Catch a 25% off sale on Autogeek.com if you are ever interested.

Good to know, I was wondering about brake heat. I will update in a few months.

My tires were due for rotation so I did both at the time, made it easier. For those with new wheels I would not apply any sealant/wax on the inside as it might keep the stick on wheel weights from sticking.

Nice to know. Have to try. There a pain to keep clean and nice but still like them. Been using the meguiars wash n wax and Rain x wash to spruce them up but doesn’t last long

Haha! I thought for sure it was Quicksand but the lighting just made it appear like cement down low!

Looks good. I have been spraying mine with meguirars tire shine when I wash my truck, then I wipe it off. That looks much better. I will have to try it.

It looks like Quicksand when late afternoon sun hits it. When I purchased my Cement, I picked it out on a Sunday and picked it up after work the next day. The salesperson tells me "There's your truck, we washed it and filled up the gas tank", and I'm like, hell I didn't pick out a quicksand last time I was here!

Turtle Wax CS assured me their Seal N Shine wax would withstand brake heat:

How long does it last on paint? My guess it will last half as long on your wheels.

it's sacrilege to speak ill of SnS online but we only got a few weeks out of it on our work van. Now it does get a shit ton of highway miles, but that was before the summer and we prepped it fairly well with an iron decon and clay. Didn't polish it but I would have went ceramic if we went that far. I think it lasted a touch longer than Hydro2/Hydro Blue. It did bead well in the beginning, but most new products do now or if you use it more often.

It’s funny to me that we even talk about longevity anymore when these spray on wipe off products are so good and so easy to apply.

Pretty much all of them will last a solid couple of months in all conditions. And it takes 5 minutes to apply another coat after a couple months. If one has super salty roads or rain every day, apply once a month. It’s just so darn easy.

I don’t disagree but there are times when weather doesn’t cooperate or I end up going longer between washes than I want to. Personally I rather know I have a good base product on for protection. In this case, I would be in trouble on my wheels as I doubt you get a week or two out of protection.

Couldn't agree more, it seems only price and durability are what everyone focuses on (two attributes that Seal and Shine kills the most). I'd pay more and suffer less durability for ease of use. As you said, why are you trying to get X months out of one application of a spray when you could apply it every two weeks with a wash.

In my case, I sometimes do not have time to even get a wash in. So a vehicle may go a month or longer between washes. The other thing for me is winters are a mixed bag around here. Could be 20 degree weather one week and 60 the next, not great for maintaining during winter months.

Normally I do a fall cleanup towards October/November. This year we went from 90 to 40 degree temps over the swing of a couple of weeks and I missed my cleanup. Thankfully I am not worried due to the longevity of my base coatings. Longevity still has a place.

I don’t NEED any more products on my shelf... but I’m itching to try the Turtle Wax SnS.

Also looking forward to their new “coating”. Anyone know if it’s been released yet?

Not sure. I keep seeing Autogeek promoting the new line on Facebook. Interesting enough they are shying away from using the Turtle Wax name on it.

Seems to be going by "Hybrid Solutions" Think Turtle wax has something to do with this brand too:
Apex Detail has some content on SnS and always gave it praise. He did a video on the new spray coating and said it's just as good or better:

Might just give this one a try. It's good on wheels plastics just like SnS.
