2003 tacoma double cab, 2wd pre runner, I cant figure out what this harness/ plug is for, it's behind the drivers kick panel and I cant seem to find it on the wiring diagram. There are a couple of inline fuses and it appears factory. The fuses are 3 amp and 15 amp

    Anyone know? plug1.jpg plu2.jpg

I'd have to check if I have that in my MT but it's raining solid out. That is right about where my clutch switch is located to detect if it is pushed and you seem to have an AT. I know the computer and also the cruise ctrl pay attention to its state. Just a thought, maybe worth researching.

    4 run, 2 don't
Ejection seat option; standard on 4x4 and optional on Prerunners.

Allows you to eject passengers that bitch about the trail while you're off roading.

That’s an insane thick gauge wire, whatever it was for was for something high amperage.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I don’t think factory remote start was offered from Toyota back then.. but sure as hell looks like the connectors we use on the newer cars for dealer installed oem remote starts.

That’s exactly what it looks like. I pulled a remote start system from the 5-lug at the column and the aftermarket harness looks identical. That wire gauge is suspiciously thick, I’d only expect it on the ignition system.

My first question what electrical device or circuit is not working?

No telling what might have been removed before the truck was sold.

I tend to think remote starter harness .

Break out the Meter the white wire should be battery voltage all the time.

That's the ignition switch connector on HKEY. If T-harnessed up, it is (or was if the module is missing) for a remote start or some sort of ignition bypass/security.

It appears stock which is crazy. Could it have been a factory remote start system?

Yep, this! To circle back I realized thats it, it t's into the ignition plug. Thanks for all the help! Not sure why it does that I had two other harnesses here that didn't have that. To give the full picture, just got done with a cab swap and had the complete dash out. Today it's running again, (finally) more to come once I figure out why this harness is like this
