Are there any stock OEM air intake differences between 2nd gen Tacoma's that are 2005-2011 and 2012-2015 or they are all the same for V6 4L.

I bought used Tacoma and it came with K&N air intake on it, and considering that I will drive on dusty roads my preference would be to go back to stock air intake, just trying to understand if I need to be looking for specific years or any 2nd gen 4.0L will work.

I was looking at K&N parts list and they have two different air intakes for 2005-11 and 2012-2015 that's the reason why I am trying to understand if OEM is in any way different.

12-15 intakes my have a mounting bracket for the air pump. The 05-11 won’t have a pump. 12-15 air pump

So if the air pump is moved to accommodate K&N air intake already would I be able to install 05-11 air intake on 12-15 without moving air pump thus not requiring that mounting bracket?

I doubt the SAIS air pump was moved. More likely the K&N has different brackets/mounting for 05-11 vs 12-15. Just take off the K&N and get 05-15 OEM parts. Might help to post a pix of what you have.

Doesnt that setup pull hot air from the back of the radiator / condenser core?

OP oem air boxes are all the same, KnN have different part numbers for 12+ because of the SAIS pump and how their intake works. But OEM its all the same.

There’s a gap between the top of the radiator and body. I don’t have intake temps to prove hot air is getting sucked in. Performance is the same.

Thank you! I got Air intake from 2005-2011 and installed in on 2012 Tacoma. Works great.

Is much quiet than K&N and most importantly engine doesn't have to breath all that dust anymore.

I would rather run the stock system & install a K&N replacement filter since the oem intake stays as a true cold air intake as the pipe is routed from the outside of the engine bay that’s what I’m running. Buying the k&n CAI is just a waste of $$ in my opinion since the cone filter itself is housed inside of the engine bay & drawing in hot air from the running engine temps so it’s not really gaining any more hp differences from just the stock setup to me it’s just more for looks & what looks good on paper lol!

Essentially mimics the setup I have had on my 2010 for many years. Works well.

Intake temps are cooler when underway, since the air is not drawn in via the right side wheel well. Also, better water protection, unless you get in above the hood which would have rendered stock underwater already.

Well, I never paid for it. It was in the truck when I bought it and was on my list to remove since day one.

I drive fair bit on forest service roads and dusty conditions so having a air filter that filters out dust better is more important for me than "noise".
