I’m about to hit 70,000 miles, going strong. I plan on doing double of triple that amount!

 

Oil changes, tranny and rear diff services, along with the occasional coolant refresh should get you there...no problem

 

Where would I go for tranny/diff stuff? My usual is Walmart for a penzoil synthetic. The penzoil proved itself to me through a bunch of research. I don’t think my Walmart does anything bigger though. Is it just a tranny/diff fluid change?

 

2 separate things. I use Mobil1

$30 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90 in my differential. But any 75/90 gear oil will be fine.



As for your transmission? Check the manual on the type and weight of the oil.

I use Valoline Zerex pink coolant in all of my Toyotas. Premixed and you can get it at Wal-Mart.



And I use Valoline Maxlife atf in my power steering system.

You're welcome. The manual transmission is pretty easy to service compared to the automatic.

There are plenty of how to's here that can step you through all of those procedures. Time to get your hands dirty.

Did some maintenance on my leaf springs today. Nothing wrong with them to begin with. Just some TLC.

To open up the springs as much as possible I jacked it up by the frame so the axle would droop. Then I sprayed some Liquid Wrench rust inhibitor/lubricant between the leafs using the straw. Smeared the excess all over the entire pack.


As it works it's away around over the next couple of days I'll wipe more of the excess that is forced out.

Too many stories about noisy leaf springs. I've never heard a peep out of mine. But the ol' girl is closing in on 5 years old. Figured I would be proactive against any squeaking

 

Only time I’ve had noisy springs is after getting dunked in mud/ water. Jacked it up so the leaves separated just like you did and just power washed between, took the squeak right away never to return. Anti corrosion is never a bad idea though.

 

The Liquid Wrench rust inhibitor is also a lubricant. Figured if I was going to the trouble to lube them, the rust inhibitor couldn't hurt. It's a rather thick product and behaves much like fluid film

Did the LW on my old chevy today took a ride across the pasture it worked great toco is not squeaking but going to hit it next week
