They are a for-profit company. It has always been better off to sell your truck privately and then use that money for down on a new truck. Middlemen take a percentage, always will.

My 2020 Off-Road double cab cost me $33,999 OTD (not counting state specific stuff like tax/title/license.) Not bad considering it had $1k worth of add-ons and zero incentives (October 2019 purchase) Plus 80% of the inventory was 2019s, so I'm surprised they worked with me that much on the 2020. They probably knew a neon blue truck with a manual trans was a hard sell and wanted rid of it.

2020 silver metallic double cab TRD Off Road MT with LED headlight, all weather mats/door sill, bed lamp upgrades...$32,350 + tax and fees. Traded my CRV in for $13,300, put a little cash down, walked out owing $19,000. Had a 2004 access cab MT but had to get rid of it for the CRV when I had kids. Happy to be back in a Tacoma!

The dealers here in DFW are out of control. I went to several dealerships, they all have $1200 to $1500 in add-ons on every truck. Pin stripes, wheel locks, paint protect film, door edge guards, window tint, etc. Add that to the port installed accessories and the markup approaches 3 grand over the factory sticker. What a rip-off. They get away with it because every dealer in the metroplex does it.

I ended up driving 100 miles to Paris Texas (small town) where the dealership didn't add any crap to the truck. The truck I bought still had port installed running boards, mud guards, blackout package and floor mats. At least they are things I wanted. I'll tint the windows myself.

Anyways, I got the truck for invoice (per kbb.com) and an additional $1000 rebate to boot. 2020 SSM V6/Auto TRD OR 4X4.

I paid about $50 over invoice and then got a $1000 rebate. So $950 under invoice. At least that is what kbb.com says :). I really just added a comment here to share my experience of going out of town to avoid all the dealer add-ons. I'd rather keep the specifics to myself.

People really just want to know the sticker price, and the sales price. They don’t want to guess about your deal. And if you are worried you got some deal in Paris that is strictly confidential, I think you need not worry. But whatever.

And we already know about DFW dealers and their attempts at profiteering with shit we don’t want. They’ve been doing it for decades.

Dealer "invoice" pricing is not really what the dealer pays anymore, it has not been for over a decade. Just do a quick google search and you will find many articles on this. Invoice price (from the mfg) has been artificially inflated over the last decade or longer to close the gap between MSRP (Sticker price) and "what the dealer pays" from what we believe. This is done on purpose to keep profits in a market that is much more savvy in this day and age with the ability to quickly look up things on the internet. Most dealers will go below "Invoice" pricing as that is not the true price of the vehicle to them. It is pretty worthless number, just made up like the "Sticker" price.

    From KBB:

"Dealer cost is nearly impossible for anyone other than the dealer to determine. You have to know precisely what payback deals the car dealer has made with the manufacturer in order to know the dealer cost. With each program that you can identify, you come closer to the actual price. Just start with the dealer invoice, and subtract any dealer incentives that you come across. This will give you a good base price that you can use to begin a negotiation that can lead to significant savings from the posted sticker price on the car window."

Also CR has written about this.

For an example, anyone that has recently bought a Ford F150 or Chevy Silverado will know very well knocking $10k off that "invoice" price will not even make the dealer flinch.

Are they discounting 2020 Limited's yet? In my area they are still a premium.

I got them to knock $1k off of what they wanted just by doing a quick google search and finding other dealerships willing to sell you a Toyota ESP without purchasing a truck from them. Do your homework prior to going in and you save, going in blind and you will pay.

Even if they try to pull "We cannot sell it that low" that is fine, tell them no and buy it from another dealership... no where in the Toyota ESP does it state you have to purchase it from the selling dealer.

I paid 0 for a 2020 taco. Because I have a 19. Keep your power seats and headlights.... I will keep the best color to ever grace sheet metal with its presence.

Glad you like the color. I saw one today on my way home. Damn those things are bright. In the sea of black, white and gray they really stick out.
