Yeah, TSS is working normally. It doesn't intervene in daily driving at all.

    Yeah, you called it!

Back to the brakes, I was hoping someone with larger/heavier tires like 33s or 35s might comment on how it affected their braking feel. I would assume it cuts out some of the touchiness.

A lift and tires aren't in my immediate future lol, so I was also hoping anyone could comment on their experience swapping pad material on their third gen, or using SS braided brake lines. I think the OEM pad material is semi metallic?

I could just start buying parts and find out what works, but I'd rather talk about it here first.

Havent pulled out the repair manual to try and see how exactly the electro/hydraulic brake booster works, but in operation it seems like the OR/Pro brakes are actually position controlled vs force controlled.. (not saying that is the case but it is how I drive it.

(When i go back and forth from my 01 Corolla DD that i have to stand on the brakes, it's an amazing difference)

You might be right. I often end up getting more braking than I intended once the truck slows down while coming to a stop.

Back when l bought my 2015 with the same style booster I practically put myself thru the windshield the first time I stepped on the pedal, lol. I think they did a pretty good job on the 3rd Gen as it is not quite as overboosted as it was on the 2nd.

It was an easy transition from the 2015 to the 2017, it did kinda suck for awhile going from the 2008 to the 2015 though.

I actually like how the brakes feel when they are cold, not warmed up to temp yet. The pedal is a little firmer and the brakes are less touchy. Seems to stop more linear. Anyway, I'm just trying to make it perfect to be honest. Always looking to feel 100% connected to the driving experience. Sadly the auto industry is shying away from this as everyone in the gen pop wants their experience to feel numb.

If you swapped out steel braided brake lines and noticed a difference, that just means your stock were worn.

Good shape stock lines will hold the same pressure as braided steel lines. Worn rubber lines will swell and that’s when you notice the difference from swapping the lines.

Yeah I wasn't exactly jumping at the idea of removing brand new brake lines, but the pad material swap could make a diff.

Go to stop at a light behind someone under 10mph and you’ll feel it apply brake pressure when you’re slowing down

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
My 4th truck, but first Tacoma, 2016 TRD Off Road. About 32,000 miles on the truck, but I love the brakes. Best I have ever had on a truck. I like the fact that you can come to a quick stop if needed in emergency situation.

They can be a little touchy at slower speeds, but I am used to it now and just apply a lighter touch. The brakes are one of my favorite aspects of this truck. Nice safe feeling.

strange, my tacoma doesn’t do that but my Camry does. I have a 19 Camry and 19 tacoma. Maybe I should have my Camry looked at...

Can anyone confirm the OEM pad material on a 2020 TRD Off Road?

Anyone with larger tires on their truck?

Could you comment on the brakes and if they are less touchy after adding larger tires?

I'm mainly talking at lower speeds or coming to a stop smoothly without having to give so much focus to how much you're applying the brakes.

Do not put big tires and lift on if you are not using them. Waste of money and won't fix brake touchiness.
