2020 Tacoma Teased

I wouldn't recommend pop-n-lock as it is loud when locking per Tacoma owners. I had the dealer ordered the OEM power tailgate lock for me for $169 and it is here but I haven't picked up.. The problem is the Toyota tech guys don't know how to install it on-site yet. I am still waiting for a phone call from them to bring my truck in b/c I would love to pay ~$289 to have a quieter OEM add-on.

 

I thought that was or it was once a port installed option and basically the pop and lock, must have added that to the 2020s / accessory catalog.

 

You can actually order the power tailgate lock through the dealership if you have the part number

Jw but how efficient is the 2020 OEM tailgate key lock over aftermarket?

 

It is louder than I expected. But it works and that was my main goal. The noise doesn’t bother me but I could see where people might not like it.

It's been a Genuine Accessory since at least 2018 from what I can tell. Problem is I can't find the stinking part numbers for the harnesses and actuators. It's like finding a unicorn. They're out there, but they all ride on the tailgate of a Tundra.

Yep, appears apparently Toyota recently added it to the accessories available, it used to just be a pop and lock.

No manuals come with remote start or smart keys.

 

Just FYI gulf states Toyota is not the same as Toyota itself and some options and packages are not available anywhere else. Might as well be a different country. Probably wont see the tailgate popper in CA for example.

 

I did a little digging and found it for $143.00 at a dealer in Kanas, and found a dealer in my area that would Price match!

Received the Gator ETX cover today. Not too sure about it. I left the bed lights on when it was sealed up and saw a lot of light coming through the gaps in the hinge areas.

On the topic of the lights, though, they work great. I have the port installed ones, and the switch turns on the reverse lights for even more light.

 

Just bought - 2020 TRD Sport with LED headlights, TRD Premium package, Tech package and Tonneau cover.
