Recently I was messing around with some fuses in my truck and ended up getting a check engine light, where the code P0598 (Thermostat Low Temp Sensor Error) was thrown out. I retraced my steps and checked the fuses I had pulled out with no indication of any fuses being blown out. Is there anything else I can do in terms of troubleshooting to figure this out, or could the sensor really have just gone bad?

Did you OHM the fuses with a DVM, or just look at them?

If they really check good, sounds like warranty work.

Yeah don’t pull out fuses for engine management systems with the key on. It takes three cycles of the ignition for that code to throw the check engine light.

Noted. Whats the solution? Is it as simple as it being a blown relay or fuse? Or could there be a more serious issue?

I would clear the code and see if it comes back in three ignition cycles would indicate a problem chances are you set the code pulling fuses with the ignition on and there is actually no problem at all.

Tried clearing the code with no fix. Coolant levels are just fine. Its looking to be a an electrical or sensor problem at this point.

Going to take a look at the temperature gauge in the morning as it should be on the cold side. If it is still in the middle as if the truck has been running a while then it could be an indication of a faulty gauge. Thank you for your help thus far. Will keep you updated!

I was able to clear it with a code reader and it never came back.
