Then yours work fine. I agree with others then not to replace them for that reason. I'd like to place discs because mine don't work.

Don't you get a chatter when oil gets on them to warn you about the seal.

Btw I don't see how the outer seal will make a difference. If oil is past the inner, it's game over man.

170k on my 2015... front pads at 100k and haven’t even looked at the rears!! Although when I finally did the front i went with stoptech slotted rotors so I just ordered a complete stoptech drum kit... might as well do it since I’m replacing the lower control arms (can’t align correctly due to frozen adjuster cams) and I’m finally replacing the upper control arms with proper ones so I can get my caster set where I want it.

I’m guessing you do a lot of highway driving?

So muuuch highway driving... I put on about 43k/yr. But the highway miles are easy on things. I had a set of duratracs that I ran over 100k (and sold for $200! when they came off)

Yeah, I had my front pads replaced and my rotors turned at a little over 30K. I had the calipers replaced at a little over 80K because one of them locked up and evaporated my left pad.

The asbestos has been federally mandated out since the mid 1990's, so unless you've got something pre-then there's nothing to worry about. A quick little Google search turned up this L.A. Times article: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-02-14-vw-1368-story.html but I'll quote the important part for people who don't want to go somewhere else to read:

"Under federal law, asbestos brake production is supposed to stop in 1993 and auto manufacturers are supposed to stop using it in new cars by 1995. By 1997, all asbestos brake linings are supposed to be off store shelves and out of new cars."

Is cruise worth it?? Well my wife refuses to use it. I use it constantly. In fact, I use it just to piss her off. So yeah, for me it's totally worth it.

Should be much less expensive and involved than doing a rear disc conversion.

Hold your breath or wear a mask while you’re blowing the dust out?

Brake cleaner isn’t much better for you.

I use cruise all the time on short and long trips. Keeps my speed/ mileage constant.

    Just a bit to ponder,
Diesel freight trucks come in around 80,000 thousand pounds, give or take a few hundred.
They have drum brakes all the way around, hmmm.

Have you looked at the conversion? I wonder
Do they last 200 thousand miles?

edit: Not relevant I know. Hwy miles, they might.

    That's what's up man!

115K here on my 2012 and the rear brake shoes are still original and I have replaced the pads once already with tons of life left on the fronts.

These rear shoes wear like iron.

My point was that disc brakes on the back of a toyota truck is one of those "my truck has disc on the back and your doesn't mods" and I get it, if I could do the swap on the cheap I would do it, that being said, my 06 DCSB prerunner sport has 150k and back brakes are still going strong
