    280 for full kit
    110 for partial kit
The reason for a partial kit is that the cost for the damper and damper bracket from my dealer is 180 bucks. You may be able to source them cheaper, I got mine from a wrecking yard for 40 bucks for both.

Ok. I work at Goodyear so I may get a better price. I’ll have to call them with the part #’s and see what my price would be. So the $110 is for the modified tailgate bracket, correct? What else would I need to buy?

I removed my tail gate assist last week. Never worked properly. Not sure why I tried to fix what wasn't broken.

I had two problems with the tailgate assist -- the tailgate took some force to open it; and as mentioned by many others, I failed to prevent the cable from getting entangled and frayed.

I think we may be talking about 2 different things, I offer a kit that uses factory 3rd gen parts on the 2nd gen. Look up 3rd gen to 2nd gen conversion.
I think you are referring to one of those shock/strut things that are junk

The cost of the conversion from 3rd gen to 2nd gen isn't worth considering merely to fix a minor annoyance of the tailgate slamming down too fast. The junk shock/strut thing was only $15 and at least worth a try.

It may not be worth it to you, but I made the decision that it was worth it to me, mostly for the cool factor. It’s all a matter of priorities. I’ve got over $300 wrapped up in a spare tire and wheel that I hopefully will never use. I spent a bunch of money on TRD fake beadlock wheels, when the TRD OR wheels were working just fine. You spent big money on 18” wheels, lift, and Fox shocks for a 5 lug. That seems like a waste to me. It’s all a matter of what we want to spend our money on. After all, a beat to crap ‘89 Nissan Sentra will do most of the things that our Taco’s do.

It was definitely worth a shot, in the beginning of this thread when you said you took the assist off cause it didn't work, I mistakenly thought you bought one of mine and was unhappy with it, otherwise I wouldn't have chimed in, sorry you lost 15 bucks on a piece of crap.

I haven't heard of one person liking the little 15 dollar shock assist.
My set up uses OEM toyota parts that work like they're supposed to only the hinge itself is made by me, and I have not had one complaint yet, I've opened my tailgate a million times showing it off with not even one hiccup, just my .02 I guess.
I just hate to see people spend their hard earned money on crap products like the 15 dollar shock assist thingy.
