OK, I don't have a clue about driving in the snow. It snows in my area once every 10 yrs and its just a sloppy mess. Did y'all get this for extra weight for traction or to put in front of the tires in case you get stuck?

I think it’s because when you live somewhere that snows a lot you have to work hard to stay warm. Loading and unloading sand bags just to stay alive..... I thinko_O

There should be no space for the water to accumulate. The insulation material and the aluminum that covers it are inert. Anyway, when I did mine the inside of the doors was bone dry.

Every time I remove a plastic panel for a mod I have been adding sound deadening material. I have noticed that the base is getting better the more I do this.

Extra weight in the back, distributed over the wheels (usually 250-400lbs,) to help with stability, and to prevent slippage. Works wonders; made better, still, by using winter-specific tires for the colder season.

    Dual purpose. Mainly
for the extra weight but should the need arise it is also traction in a bag. I don't anticipate busting one open but should the need arise I can. It's kind of a half arsed remedy for not getting my wheels/tire changed over in time for the storm.
You wouldn't think that a mere 180 lbs. placed directly over the rear axle would make that much of a difference but it does. Thinking of adding one more 60# bag. 40+ mile round trip commute so gas mileage may be an issue, we'll see. May just watch the weather forecasts and use as needed.

I would hate to have to get another set of tires and wheels just for the winter driving. Then I'm sure there is the problem of having to store the extra set when not in use.

Very true...plus the cost. I did quite a bit of research on tires because we can get get significant snow in Virginia, and decided on the Yokohama Geolandar G015. They have the best mix of looks and road manners (IMO), and they go like a champ in the snow. I've been very impressed for the last 22,000 miles with them.

Hopefully, I will never know this problem. We don't have a real winter in Southern Louisiana. If it gets to 40°F, we stay inside. Unless there is hunting or fishing involved. I know, kind of weak, but we are tropical people. HaHa. Give me the heat.
