How do you go about bending the bolt? How so you straighten it once you want reinstall?

Evaluate any rust / corrosion carefully.

It's easy to break or strip a bad bolt, then you'll have to cut it out.

If the area appears dicey corrosion wise, it's not a bad idea to have a couple of new bolts on hand. Just in case. Either that or another transportation method until you can source new ones.

BTW, with that potential problem in mind, park it where it can be out of the way for a day or two. Just in case.

Mo corrosion. I'm in Arizona. :) it's warm here too. I was planning to bend the metal. Thanks for all the responses.

Correct. I bend the shit out of the sheet metal and the bolt was a long way from being able to slip past the sheet metal.

Much to many TacomaWorlder's disagreement, I cut the bolt, and put it back in the other way.

Thank you. Totally agree with this. There are MANY other bolts that could potentially fall out and cause our trucks to reduce themselves into kit form, according to that line of thinking. I put a touch of loctite on them, and I check them pretty regularly.

I'm curious.....does anyone have a link to even one case of these backward bolts coming out that was properly torqued to begin with? I'm going out on a limb here, and predicting the answer is "no".

LOL. No one is worried about the lower control arm bolts falling out.

If your not worried about it, why check them pretty regularly. I wouldn’t do it but the chances of them coming out probably aren’t that high of torqued and loctited.

Because it's a pivot bolt, and it's aftermarket. If I'm down there greasing them, why not go ahead and check it. I check my lugnuts pretty regularly too. But I wouldn't say I'm "worried" about them flying off.

FYI- If you put the bolt in backwards the truck will throw a code and end up in limp mode

You’ll have no problem doing the replacements being it’s an AZ truck. I had to cut out my LCA’s a few weeks ago. The cam bushings were frozen and no heating, witchcraft or impact tools would make them budge. I had to replace w/ MOOG due to time constraints. What are you using as replacement parts?
