I really like them, but I was obligated to do the 4 lights since my dumb front camera. Unless I wanted asymmetrical 3 lights.

Honestly I just wanted to embellish my cheese grater grille some but the amber Yota LEDs I purchased did add some more visibility at close range on my truck(nothing like a light bar) and performed well in fog which I thought they would but didn't know until recently. I think it adds to safety in some sense because it makes your truck more visible from the front. I drive a lot in the early morning when its dark and anything that catches a sleepy driver's attention and keeps them from pulling out in front of me is a benefit.

Raptor's have them as a DOT/SAE requirement for identification lights since its over 80 inches wide, they serve no real purpose besides that. I think its pretty lame seeing them on Taco's, XLT F150s, etc. It serves no purpose and is like putting a GT or Cobra badge on your 4 cylinder Celica. But to each their own.

    DOT/SAE requirement
    LOCATION OF REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
MULTIPURPOSE PASSENGER VEHICLES, TRUCKS, TRAILERS, AND BUSES, OF 80 OR MORE INCHES OVERALL WIDTH
    ...
Identification lamps: On the front and rear—3 lamps, amber in front, red in rear, as close as practicable to the top of the vehicle, at the same height, as close as practicable to the vertical centerline, with lamp centers spaced not less than 6 inches or more than 12 inches apart.

    It's complicated.
I bought mine from TacoTwonz (https://www.runnin4tacos.com/) right after picking up my new truck, in Denver.

As for my reasoning: I just like how they look.

I’m guilty of running 4 ambers up front but will probably take em out when it warms up. Thought they were cool for a while. If any one is looking for a 3 or 4 harness from R4T I might be parting with it soon.

A local company to me sells this grill with the lights built into it. Find it funny they name it a “Raptor” grill.

For sure the cleanest one I’ve seen so far tho.

If you have to ask the purpose of the Raptor style lights, why are you considering them?

I thought one of the purposes of this forum was to ask questions and get useful information and input from other members rather than a smartass response.

Not trying to be sarcastic (just truthful). There is some useful information here. But, just like any social media website, you got to weed through the BS to find the good stuff. Time to put on your Game Face.

I think it's funny that we shit on raptor lights, but we all loooooove our Taco LED DRLs.

I always make sure to turn mine on in the middle of the day when the bright blaring sun is at its peak. It's because I think they look good, not because I think it'll help someone see me coming.

Let's also mention we have entire strings on this forum to black out your headlight housings...an intensive process that takes an entire weekend to dismantle your front bumper, bake your headlights, and then re-build the entire thing. It's for aesthetics.

Most of the lights we add to these things are frivolous. They are accents we add to make our rigs look a little different. That's a good thing.

Add raptor lights. Add christmas lights to your roof rack. Add wheel well lights that change color. Whatever.

You didn't answer my question. "I" asked a question. "You" gave a smartass response.
