This truck fascinates me. Payload of 3,500 fucking pounds? Ho-Le shit. I hope it's for reals. We need crazy fuckers like Elon IMO.

If they actually sell well, and work without hiccups, every auto manufacturer will be scrambling to bring something to market to compete.

Wife and I for are sure doing EV for her next vehicle, both our works have free EV charging which would mean even lower operating cost, but she hates how this thing looks. I might just put a preorder in and say fuck it

There’s no doubt about it, it take more heavy metals, and mining to produce an electric car then a petroleum power car. Then you fuel it with a coal fired power plant, this is saving the planet how? Fusion power is the key to human survival, if we want to keep using power the way we do now.
I know because I slept in a Holiday Inn last night.

My whole point is that batteries aren’t the answer. “Clean energy” is nothing but a marketing tool.

Humans will keep popping out babies like cockroaches until our trash, filth, and insatiable need for consumption, make this planet uninhabitable, and no technology will change that. If you're not walking or riding a bike everywhere you're just trying to make yourself feel better with all this bullshit.

Anyway, the battery/oil pros and cons are off topic. Back to the real subject, the truck. I think it’s ugly af and looks like a Mars vehicle for future space exploration. Marketing as a truck is hilarious

Watched the whole thing and it makes a ton of sense. Doug is on the money here.

I usually agree with Doug but his review of the Cybertruck concept truck was WAY off base. You simply can’t compare apples to oranges on truck pricing. This truck has zero competition in the marketplace except for the soon to be released Rivian.

Styling is subjective so I understand his opinion on that part BUT future truck buyers overwhelmingly agreed with Tesla by placing 1/4 million Cybertruck deposits. And the styling will grow on buyers over time. The more exposed you are to the angular styling the less radical it looks.

He starts by saying he's going to talk about specs because he's an expert and other reviewers are clueless, then fails to even mention payload. Payload nearly always is the limiting factor when towing, not towing capacity, due to the hitch weight on the truck.

If the payload really is more than a lot of 3/4 ton trucks, that's pretty awesome.

He's right about the range tho. Start with a range of 300 miles then add a trailer and you might be recharging every 150 miles.

    That's every tow vehicle, though.

    Clearly mentioned.

Vid mostly talks about towing payload though. Also conflates SC trucks with the DC CT. I see the CT as a daily with occasional towing/hauling option, and the low/mid tier ones are super competitive pricewise as a daily. And basically kills the R1T's pricepoint.

    That's pretty dark.

    My opinion:

If you look at human existence over thousands or tens of thousands of years there have been events that limit population growth and force us to change- climate change is nothing new.

Wars, plagues and famine are more recent but happen.

Not saying you are wrong, just adding that humans have overcome challenges in the past and I believe we will continue to.

Probably the overall population of the planet is going to be drastically reduced one way or another, but humans will prevail.

And electric vehicles are just interesting machines.

I live in an area where Tesla's are rather common.

I highly doubt most of the owners are driving them for environmental reasons...just a hunch though.

Carpool lanes? Totally care. That's time you don't have to spend waiting in traffic.

    Like, so many.
So my brother has a friend who works for Tesla and he said the original design was much more traditional, similar, in fact, to the F150. But Elon personally scratched that design and they came up with this new "design."
