I still love those wheels

 

They already killed the titan cummins for 2020.

 

Well that sucks. What are they replacing it with? Or Nissan getting back out of the diesel game?

 

Nobody wants a titan as is, and nobody wanted one with a diesel apparently.

 

I'd have to go with an old 1st-3rd gen looking for the 12 valve, but would take a 24 if/when I leave the taco. Don't think I could see myself in a Nissan with a cummins. Anyone know if they body they put the motor in can hold up? curious, don't look at nissans so no offense.

That thing was only for the fuel economy. The cummins titan can only tow as much as a v8 1500. So it couldnt compete with a 2500 cummins. But cost just as much

 

Yeah for a cool project or something the old 12 valve would be cool af, the bodys suck and the rest of the truck is still a dodge so kinda crappy quality but the 12 valvei love that everything is mechanical on those. Not the most efficient and all that stuff. But durable and long lasting service life man. I just get giddy thinking of a Cummins in something other than a Dodge if Mopar didn't have that contract with Cummins for those engines....I dunno if they'd still be able to be in the full size work truck game.

man, a lot of people complain about dodges and their quality but my second gen I had prior to the 5 lug was not bad at all. Paint peeled down to the metal is about all I could complain about. But I live in Az and there's no avoiding that. My taco is already losing it's clear coat lol. feel like the big 3 (ford, dodge, GM) all have their shit at the end of the day versus each other. Def would love to go back to a second gen tho for the cummins and build it, likely will happen when I get a fam going and need the "BIGGER FAM" upgrade.

Side story, I literally had someone laugh at me for asking around when I was truck hunting prior to the taco for asking if his 12 valve had been chipped. I now know why

I'm glad your Dodge was good to you. I'm just talking from the side of one who has worked on em and not owned em. So I see the ones that need fixing, and yours you owned happened to not need fixing. I'll add the ones I've worked on have all been work trucks and used for towing and work. So that could be different too
But the interiors and the trucks themselves from all makers back in the 80s just seemed like straight crap for quality though

My great grandpa had a clean red one under 100k miles when he passed. I wanted that damn thing so bad as a highschool grad, but such a dumb idea. I was already getting 13 mpg with the other truck I had and tried to convince my parents I wouldn't notice dropping 3 more mpg to 9. My fucking wallet would've been charred to a crisp trying to go anywhere other than the grocery store, and I'm happy my parents said no. BUT shit that thing would have been sick built

 

Yes! A very important quality to have indeed!
and yeah I understand as well as far as seeing things from the outside, was not getting upset In any way about an opinion lol. that thing I ran it like hell. I would put a quart of oil in it every 3 weeks bc I believe the plenum head gasket was shot, but I was at 200 k miles already and could've fixed it but was lazy. Only left me on the road once and that was when the fuel pump went out at like 170k. Yes, interiors all were shit back in the day, the quality and reliability is what outweighed that I feel like.
Only interior issue I had with my dodge was the WELL-KNOWN cracking of the front dash; which the PO solved the problem by keeping it hidden with a dash mat

 

is there a paint protection application you can get on your truck to block UV rays better to avoid the AZ issue i read about

 

there most likely is, but I worry about other things with my vehicles before paint crosses my mind haha. As u can see I used my other truck daily without fixing an oil leak that cost me a quart of oil every 3 weeks. Best protection I would say is parking under a ramada or in garage. My last truck only was kept in a garage for maybe 6 months when I had it. This one has sat in a garage ONCE
