Pretty much. Nalley Ford took it one step further. I walked in saying “I want a Supercab, 4x4, with at least Sync 3”. Sales guy was like “yeah I don’t know what a Supercab is but what do you want your monthly to be?”. Which I’m one of those guys that doesn’t look at monthly, I look at final drive out anyway. If a sales guy asks immediately what my target monthly is, I don’t like him because I know what his priority is.

When I was considering a higher end Silverado 4x4, Rick Hendrick basically ignored me and kept me on a waiting list for over an hour because I’m a young Asian kid. Older country club looking couple came in looking at Corvettes while I was waiting and a sales guy was on them in 5 min, which prompted me to walk out.

In the end it worked out with the Ford dealership in Rome. I got a nicer truck than I was planning to get for less than I was planning to pay, just had to wade through a lot of shitty dealerships/sales guys before that.

Yup, in the end, just have to be willing to walk when they start playing games. I think I've given up looking until i don't need to worry about a trade in since that's just a ton more time wasted.

Last time I saw a decent looking truck I got there and they had spray painted the suspension black to cover rust, if not more. That was the last straw for my patience.

So if you are only interested in 1 truck they have in stock how would you go about it?
YMMV? I am paying straight cash for the truck but I want the best OTD price

I literally only am interested in 1 of their trucks at each dealer

Love mine in #2 configuration. Just have a camper in back. If you have a rear bumper along with all your other armor, I’d start with setup 3 and come down to 2 after breaking them in

Glad to hear. Isn't setup 3 the stiffest? Im a little confused as to why I'd start with setup 3 just to come down to setup 2 for break in... wouldnt setup 2 break in by themselves?

What model/year/options? If it’s a base model and you walk in with cash Id prob be firm around 3000 less than asking - as long as it’s stock. And spec’d models I’d be in upper 3’s but starting at 4K off. Check out NADA dealer #’s for ballpark.

Figure out what you are willing to pay for the truck and walk in with the check already made out. Tell them to make the deal or you go to another dealership. Money talks.

Show up. Maybe call ahead and set an appointment with the internet sales manager. They usually can work deals and not have to "go speak with their manager" when it comes to the money side of things. They view it as "you could be blowing smoke" over the phone. You show up in person with a check and they know that you are serious.

So Call and say i can pay 20K out the door (all taxes and fees included) and if that is possible ill be willing to test drive and buy on X date? The truck in the link is the 1 i want to buy and want to see about first. It has been on their lot for awhile and is listed as 21k + fees, but i have cash, just never bought from anybody other than family before.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    Well hells yes!

If it were me, I'd call or do an internet chat and just say that you'd like an appointment with the internet sales manager. Then, on whatever date you set, show up with the check already made out to the dealership with all details except the memo line and signature filled out. Test drive the vehicle and, if you like it, hand him the check.

When he inevitably gives you some nonsense about not being able to go that low, just tell him that he can either figure out how to make it work or you go to one of the other 4 dealerships. Once you start walking to the door is when he will make the deal.
