How would you other 2020 owners rate your driver door? Seems like mine doesn't close all the way unless you put force in it. The other 3 doors are normal push and closes

I just picked up my 2020 on Friday and noticed the same thing. My 2018 didn’t require as much force to close.

I’m getting wind sound when doing highway speeds and haven’t been able to narrow down where it’s coming from yet. Haven’t noticed that the door isn’t completely closed though. What symptom are you experiencing?

My driver door also needs a little force to close but it is tightly closed with no wind noise at highway speed

Funny you should ask. I had my 2019 for 5 months and never failed to close the door all the way. On my 2020 about half of the time the door doesn’t shut all the way. I have to open it back and shut it again. It’s not a problem. It’s just tighter and requires a little more force to close.

They may have tightened tolerances up some or made the seals thicker. I know they made the side windows thicker to help reduce noise, so that was a concern and not surprising that they may have made other smaller tweaks as well.

This is true for my PRO.

You have to slam the door to get it to close. All the doors for that matter.

Every Toyota that I have owned, when the air vent is open the doors are easy to close. When the air vent is set to recirculate, it takes more force to close the doors.

My truck finally came in on Friday. Took it on its first fishing trip on Saturday. Pic is bad, but loving the truck so far!

I recently purchased a 2020 TRD OR and my driver's door does just the same as yours. However there is no way would I let a dealer f**k with it in any case. I just have to give a little more force unless a window is down or another door is already open. I have actually got use to it and just give that door a little extra push when closing.

Re: wind noise/ hard to shut doors

Something was probably changed for wind noise purposes- firmer seal, one less vent hole in the seal, door adjustment process was changed, etc. If you could see how that is adjusted on other cars, you'd be horrified. It's enjoyable to do when you're angry, I'll leave it at that.

A normal situation would go like this: Top rear of the door gap off? Over flush on top and pulled in at the bottom? Bend the bottom out until it's even, adjust door in or out at the striker, adjust closing force. Bend, slam, over-extend, whatever you need to do. The noises are horrifying too, at first. Once you remember cars are just shiny sheet metal, it makes a lot more sense. Same for hoods, hatches, etc. A twist here, a shove there and it's like magic. I'm usually watching, I'm not too fond of doing it.

Whichever door is last to close, if you do it too lightly. My guess is the air seal is strong and the cabin air acts as a cushion.

Yep, I can concur that the 2020 doors are harder to close than the previous years. I have to put a little bit more effort into closing it or it will not close all the way. I suspecting the stronger rubber air seals as well.

Just came back from the dealer for the power tailgate lock installation. $169 + labor. Supposedly the lead auto tech took on the project by reading 23-page install guide and working on it for 3 hrs. Amazing job w/ no traces of wires visible anywhere! I would highly recommend it at the Toyo dealer. Part and service are under warranty.
